64 with Elijah and Felix?
“How many times do I have to tell you this, Felix? You can’t just go around picking bar fights!”
Felix struggled under the large, strong hand wrapped around his bicep unceremoniously dragging him into the main room of the lair.
“Let go of me, bastard.” he snapped. “I’m not a fucking teenager!”
Heads turned towards the collusion, curious gazes making him flush, adding shame to his frustration.
“Then act like it, for once in your goddamn life!”
The hand let go, making him stumble forward. He spun around, bristling at the treatment and the scrutiny.
“I don’t care, Felix! Just- Fucking think, before throwing hands around!” The man sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. “You never know who you might be insulting.” His tone had quietened down, and he just sounded tired.
Felix pursed his lips, crossing his arms against his chest. He was right, of course. He usually was. Blaze Rushworth, the second in command. Brains and brawls all in one man, a mass of muscles standing at 198cm in a well-tailored suit and a mind as sharp as the multiple blades he kept hidden on various parts of his person. Only he was privy to the entirety of the boss’ plans, as he often offered his ear to her suggestions and, as the rumours went, also played a part in the creation of some of their most successful jobs. Blaze was strong, intelligent, and loyal to a fault. Some thought he and the boss were in a relationship, others said they were related. Either way he wasn’t one to be easily swayed, even if very few would even think about turning on him. It wasn’t just that he was intimidating, all strong lines, square jaw, short black hair and piercing green eyes, but he also inspired respect. He seemed to care that nobody got hurt too badly, tried to take into account everyone’s preferences and blind spots, and actively protected them when the situation called for it. It was thanks to him that Felix only got out of this fight with a few bruises and a black eye.
“I’ll take him off your hands, Blaze.” Elijah’s voice rung out softly next to Felix’s ears, bringing him out of his thoughts.
His entire body relaxed at the sound of that voice, although he tried, desperately so, not to let it show too much. Thankfully, Blaze didn’t seem to notice, throwing Elijah a nod instead.
“Thanks. Try talking some sense into him while you’re at it, that’d spare us all the trouble.” he said.
Elijah chuckled quietly. “I can’t promise you anything, but I’ll try.”
Felix threw him a glare, wincing a little as pain shot from the dark purple bruise around his eye. Blaze left, the others went back to minding their business, and Elijah took him to the infirmary room.
“Whose honour were you trying to defend this time?” he asked idly as he pressed a pack of ice on Felix’s cheek.
“Yours.” Felix grinned, stupidly pleased at the question. He knew him too well.
Elijah just arched an eyebrow. “I wasn’t even there.”
“Ah, but you know you’re always with me, wherever I go.”
Green eyes rolled skywards but Felix’s senses were too attuned to him to fail to notice the light flush on his cheeks and the small, pleased smile on his lips. He grinned wider, allowing himself to gently wrap his fingers around Elijah’s wrist.
“I mean it, you know.” he said softly, watching him intently.
Elijah gave a little, short-lived laugh through his nose, caressing his cheek with his thumb.
