my masterlist - my taglist
during my set, i noticed a figure standing on the side of the stage, watching me. eventually, i turned to see who it was, and lo and behold, it's the man who i spoke to before i went on.
seeing him, i flashed him a smile, to which he nodded at me.
i finished my set, which went pretty well to be honest. the crowd was wild. so many people knew my lyrics, it was surreal.
i walk off stage, to the side, where i meet the mystery man. i slow down, stopping once i'm in front of him.
"hey," i greet him, sipping from a bottled water my manager handed me.
"hey. you killed it out there. absolutely insane," he responds, his tone enthusiastic.
i smile bashfully, a small blush raising onto my already pink cheeks. "stop, you're too sweet. you really think so?"
"i know so," he assures. "i mean did you see how the crowd was? you were fucking amazing."
i look into his eyes, "thanks. that actually means a lot to me. i was so nervous to go on, and having you reassure me both before and after really helps me."
"no problem. i'd be rude to not help a girl like you."
"a girl like me?"
he hums, "yeah. talented. pretty."
i look down at my feet, my cheeks flushed. "you're just saying that," i quietly murmur.
"i'm not. i don't just say shit to say it."
i suck in a small breath. i look back up, looking into his beautiful eyes.
"i never got your name," i say.
"you never asked for it."
i grin. "what's your name?" i ask, my tone playful.
"i go by esdeekid, but my real names jay. you can call me whatever you'd like."
"hmm, jay. and when do you go on?"
he checks something behind him, a person maybe. "i actually am supposed to go on right now. they should be done setting up soon."
a man comes by, walking up to jay. "you're on now, you ready?" he says, his accent also thick. he must be his manager.
jay nods, then turns to me. "sorry our conversation got cut short. wish i got to talk to you for longer. will you be able to watch my set?"
i shake my head, smiling, "no, that's fine. i'll be able to watch your set for a bit, but my manager wants me to go somewhere with her to make connections or some shit in like 30 minutes."
"oh," he says, his voice a bit disappointed. "thought i'd be able to see you after."
"well, there's an after party in a few hours, you plan on going?" i ask.
"yeah, why, you going too?"
i nod, smiling. "yeah. i guess i'll see you there."
he nods, looking at me. his manager, standing a couple feet away, then clears his throat, giving jay a look that screams 'wrap this up, you have to get out on stage'.
"i'll see you," he trails off, then being handed a mic before walking closer to the stage, waiting for his cue to go on.
only being able to watch 30 minutes of jay's set sucked. his music was actually pretty good. i think i might've heard his songs online before, but i'm not sure. but what i am sure of, is that his songs will definitely be added to my playlist now.
i went to whatever thing my manager wanted me to go to. it was boring, i just talked to random snobby people for about an hour.
finally getting back to my hotel, i quickly changed and got myself ready for this afterparty. i keep my clothes white, keeping the vibe the same as my stage outfit from earlier. i wear a white, cropped, off the shoulder top, adorned with glitter and tassels. i put on a flowy white skirt, tying a white and gold scarf around my hips. i keep my same brown boots on, wearing tall white socks underneath. i throw on numerous gold necklaces, rings, and bracelets, before reapplying the same makeup i had on earlier.
about 20 minutes later, i've arrived at the party, which is at a club. i see many faces, all familiar from their performances earlier. although they look familiar, i don't really have any friends in the music industry. sure, i may know some people, but just not well enough.
i'm waiting for jay to be here, or for me to find him. but what i didn't think about before was that he was wearing a balaclava and had his face covered, which is going to make it much harder to pick him out in a sea of people.
i head over to the bar, sitting down. i order a shirley temple, not being able to drink legally.
i sit there for about 25 minutes, mostly thinking to myself and having a bit of small talk with the bartender.
i hear something behind me, "that you, y/n?"
i turn around. i recognize the voice, it being thick and british, but i don't recognize the face. i squint my eyes, piecing the puzzle together in my head.
it's jay. but without his face covered. he's hot, much more than i thought he'd be.
"jay?"
he smiles, stepping closer to me. "the one and only." he leans in for a hug, holding me tight.
"how'd you know my name if i never told you?" i laugh slightly.
he pulls away. "your face always seemed a bit familiar, earlier when we first started talking. but then your manager said your name and it clicked."
i grin. "oh, so you've heard of me before?" i tease.
he shakes his head, his chin length brown hair swaying, and a cute smile on his lips. "i guess i have."
he takes a seat next to me.
we talk the whole night. about everything and anything. he's so easy to talk to.
a bit of flirting webbed its way in there, too. which he started - not like i mind, he's quite attractive, both personality-wise and looks-wise.
we exchanged social medias and numbers at the end of the night, not exactly wanting to part.
i typed my phone number into his phone, putting my name as 'y/n :)'. i handed his phone back to him.
"you gonna be at the festival tomorrow too?" i asked.
he looked into my eyes, glancing at my lips for the slightest second. "mhm. not performing though, obviously."
"do you maybe want to.. meet up again?" i suggested.
he smiled. "i'd love to."
i smiled back, just looking at him. i felt a buzz coming from my phone. my manager texted me 'the driver is there to get you. don't keep him waiting long.'
i sigh, looking back at jay. "i've got to go now. i had a really good time tonight."
"i had a really good time, too," he told me.
i looked into his eyes, thinking. i hesitated a moment before leaning in and pressing a soft kiss against his lips.
before it can last too long, i pulled away, a blush on my face. "i'll see you tomorrow. bye, jay," i say, before i got up and made my way towards the door.
his cheeks were also pink. "bye.." he trails, a bit shocked at my action.
it seems like the festival brought me a bit more than i expected.
