An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
The woman’s eyes looked at the staff lanyard around Tyla’s neck, reading the words as a smile spread across her lips. “Miss Joseph. Music teacher. Makes perfect sense to me.”
“What do you mean by that…” Tyla read the lettering on the breast of the other woman’s t-shirt, three bold letters underneath the station logo. “...Dun?”
“You’ve got that sorta air about you. Something that hides a talent far more impressive than what settling for becoming a teacher would make me believe. An easy option, I get it.”
“So what, does that make you an arsonist in your free time?” Tyla wanted to be offended, but instead she found herself wondering how Dun had read her like an old, dusty book.
“Maybe.” The firefighter deadpanned, “Gotta keep the station in business somehow.”
or: Tyla is a music teacher at her old high-school, and Josie is the cute firefighter who turns up on career day.
