When I first started reading comics it took me awhile to find a shop I felt comfortable frequenting. I am a woman. Many comic book readers are females but not all comic book shops have realized this. It’s hard enough to have to read stories where some of my favorite characters are drawn with disgustingly inhuman proportions. Not only would other customers give me the eye, but employees were less than welcoming as well. Luckily no one ever actually said anything because I most likely would have caused a scene. But it made me dread going to pick up my books and I truly appreciate the shops that put in an effort to make all visitors feel welcome.
