I know whump is by basically by definition "look at that character in distress. I love them" but I'm currently obsessed with a specific kind of "look at that character in distress. I love them." and it's this:
Male damsels in distress and female knight in shining armor types.
It's so good. SO good. And I'm obsessed specifically with the moments after a rescue where the woman rescues the male and the male is hurt and/or scared and the female comforts them or stands by them protectively after they had just beat the shit out the thing/person who hurt the male and the guy is weak and disoriented and in genuine awe of the woman. I love that kind of shit. Especially if it's usually the male doing the protecting and now they need protected.
