So, full disclosure, I'd been wanting to play with a flashback to Dark Reign -- a "what could have been, behind the scenes" -- for a while. Then Lan said yes to doing this femcomics project with me, and we bounced ideas. And then it turned out this kind of intrigue was a stunning fit to her nuanced, expressive style.
This was my first collaboration, this little three-page fan comic. It's also, I think, my favorite thing I've written, which is unfair, because most of what I love about it is how jaw-droppingly gorgeous it turned out. Lan's takes are, to me, like, the Platonic ideals of Vic Hand and Karla Sofen.
Man, that was fun.
ON THE FUTURE OF THE EVENT
While some of you are still finishing your works, the event is far from being closed and I have another project I'm gonna offer to you soon, but here we are:
Do we need another FemComicsEvent? Given the great results, I think yes.
Do we need to expand the event further? Certainly. We intend to include DC the next year.
And the most important question: when is the right time to hold the event? I considered it too, but I want to hear your opinions. Name those three months you're most comfortable with when you can devote some time to the event.
Please answer here or send your responses to our askbox or write to [email protected].
My pick is August-September-October, it means everything (sign-ups) starts in Aug and ends in Oct. But maybe you have other suggestions?
"White Russian" Natasha Romanov Writer: emiliasarc Artist: @donkringel So, here's the second comic for the awesome femcomics event! Sorry that it took so long. This one is about Natasha Romanov. We wanted to show that while Nat is often seen as a very scary person, she can also have some fun with her fellow Avengers. It was a lot of fun to paint this, but also quite stressful, as I was a little late..... It's so good to see all the wonderful comics that were made for this event! Check them out here!
