1/2 Prince fic | Little children don’t hesitate to say what’s on their mind.
A family of four are seen at the dinner table. Around the table, it went in the order of a woman, a man, a little girl, and a little boy.
“Xiao Lan, slow down. If you continue eating this fast, you’re going to end up choking,” the mother scolded. The little girl, Xiao Lan, just grinned before shoving more food into her mouth. The father covered his mouth to prevent further laughter. “Honey, it’s not funny. Xiao Lan is a girl.” The mother started to tear up. “If she continues with how she acts, she’ll never get a prince!”
Lifting her face from her bowl of rice, Xiao Lan tilted her head before pouting. “Silly Mama, I don’t want a prince.”
Her mother’s eyebrows raised and even Xiao Lan’s father went silent with curiosity. Don’t girls usually want to be princesses and marry their prince charmings? Even though she’s still young, Xiao Lan should have mentioned or giggled about how cute one of her classmates is by now.
“Well if you don’t want a prince then what do you want?” Her father asked to appease his little girl. He almost flinched at how quickly his daughter stood up and nearly knocked a dish off in the process.
Xiao Lan grasped her mother’s hand and then gave it a light kiss. “I want to be a prince,” she declared.
Her mother spluttered and her father froze. Xiao Lan’s beaming face fell at the lack of response. The boy, who had been eating without concern, placed down his chopsticks and turned to his sister.
“Jiejie, I thinks it's fine.” After a brief pause, he then added, “if you’re a prince then I’m one too.”
