I'm just about to graduate with a music degree from U of T. I love music so much, and I love being part of the classical music world, but I'm so burnt out. I had plans to study collaborative piano and jazz and to apply to conservatories all over the world, but now I truly have nothing left to give. My brain hurts. I just need a long break. I'm sorry to hear that the music world has been unkind to you, I hope you and I will eventually have the time and space to do more music on our own terms

collaborative pianists have my whole heart!!!! 💗 your story just feels so familiar to me. i’m so sorry that you got hit so hard with the burn out, too. it feels inevitable in the current structure of classical music. it’s just unsustainable. when i first took a step back i genuinely couldn’t even listen to classical music for awhile bc it just. hurt too much. i hope that all of us who’ve been burnt find some way to heal (maybe find some healing in sharing our stories w each other), and absolutely find some way to engage w music on our own terms. thank you for sharing your story w me ♡

would you ever live in another country?

I would! I have family that lives in Cuba, Ecuador, and Spain, so possibly one of those places! My bf also is big on wanting to live in Japan, and tbh I’d try it at least for a little bit
