She’d made it a point to keep away from the Underside, though rumour of disappearance and horror stories in Cotes Fantasci’s shadows of late tempted her to its border to investigate. Steering well clear the town itself, Mashu had found herself on the edge of Airaisal, sighting the area from a distance. It wouldn’t solve anything, but she wasn’t prepared to take any unwarranted risks. Not right now. Sunset had long passed and she should have been preparing to return home, lest she cause any further worry, but there was movement which rooted her. A man, no company sighted. The trenchcoat that blended into the darkness reminded her of King Hassan’s robes. Which direction he was travelling was difficult to discern, with that effortless melding of gloom into gloom.
He was going to vanish with no certainty he was there at all, like a ghost. She’d little choice but to approach. The fragrance of blood wafted through the air. Something near had happened. “Hold on a moment”. Camelot stayed close to her hip in preparation; something wasn’t right. So much wasn’t right. “Have you seen anything out of the ordinary? There’s word of attacks and vanishings around this area, and I feel one just occurred”. She hadn’t spoken accusation, but the stern look upon her face gave away her suspicions. “You wouldn’t have any information, would you?”
