seeing the familiar curve of her body illuminated by the moonlight was a sight he didn't think he'd ever grow bored of. dark eyes long accustomed to the DARK could faintly make out her brown curls against her pillows, the slopes of her shoulder blades that faced him.

his heart was a COLD one. there was little in this world that could make it bleed. but hearing her voice after months away, muffled against the sheets that wrapped around the body his arms should be holding instead, drunk with sleep——it did something to him. it tugged on something he wasn't entirely used to. it made his head scream DANGER.

his heavy boots finally dragged as he moved, no longer burdened with keeping his steps light for her. she'd hear his shuffling across the room, as he shed the various layers he carried with him across the world. his jacket, his shirt, mask, watch and keys.

❝ i don't like when you say shit like that, ❞ his deep voice cuts through the darkness as softly as it could. it was hoarse, as if he was unused to having any need of it.

it wasn't long before he circles the bed until he was at her side again, his massive body inviting itself into her space by leaning over her figure and burying his nose in her hair. his hands grip her hips as he cleanses his palate of diesel and death with the familiar scent of her shampoo, his scarred lips not sparring an inch of skin as he kissed up her neck, her jaw, her cheek.

❝ go back to sleep, ❞ he says once he decided he had bothered her enough, giving her butt a gentle pat as he stood once more. ❝ i'll join you in a minute. ❞ climbing into bed smelling the way he did just wouldn't be right, and his sore muscles were begging for a hot shower, preferably with a water pressure to rival the bullets he had tanked for twenty years.

many things had been said to nate in his life time, often times they were meant to hurt him, demean or belittle. that was the environment he grew up, what he almost expected when people spoke to him. but when gloria said that, when she told him his presence would ease her discomfort― well nate couldn't have heard a greater compliment. lingering in the door way, seeing her settled so nicely among the pillows and soft blankets, it was hard to say no to such a request; could anyone truly deny someone so stunning in that moment? a stronger man perhaps, but nate wasn't built for strength. steadying himself against the doorway, his eyes go to the chair tucked in the corner― but a hand patting the spot beside her brings him back. “ ... i don't know if i snore, but if i do― just nudge me. ”

gender: female

general appearance: if there ever were a perfect mix of two people, it would be violet. she's a blend of both her mother and father, all the best qualities in one tiny being. nate's face shape, that stern concentrated brow, and multitude of freckles that dot across her face and arms. gloria's beautiful rich honey hued eyes, soft skin, dark lush waves of hair and that dimpled smile. she's lean, like her father, bony as child, people often commented that she looked younger that what she was, until those frown lines started to appear, and suddenly those comments dried up. as she grew up, violet found her style, sporting spikes and chains, pins and patches. nate no longer had to worry so much for his little girl, instead he worried for those who crossed her.

personality: flower child turned ultra punk, though that's not to say she still doesn't love getting flowers. she was soft spoken fairytale loving little girl, chasing her mom around the house and begging her dad for another story at bedtime, up until the time she dug into her gloria's record collection, and suddenly turned sixteen seemingly over night. her favourite movies, akira and the hunchback of notre dame, became the blueprint of her anti-authority traits, giving out middle fingers to anyone who thought they could order her to do anything. sometimes even her own dad.

special talents: stealth mastery to a frightening degree, if it weren't the fact nate installed security cameras on house, they'd never be able to catch her sneaking in and out. it doesn't matter what lock is put in front of her, give her time and vi will open it with a smug little grin.

who they like better: she wouldn't ever say it out loud, but gloria. her and nate have had some fights as she grew, being that they share that same stubborn streak and spite, so she's more likely to open up to gloria over nate. there is no doubt she loves both her parents but she's a mom girlie.

who they take after more: gloria again. though when she was younger, she was very much her father's daughter. her quirks, the one sided smile, the huffs, they were all nate, but now that she's older, she's a gloria clone through and through. they even share the same laugh.

personal headcanons: despite how mad she can get at her parents, she will always tell them that she loves them before going to sleep. the way to win her over is by making pancakes for her with chocolate chips. she would rather read than watch something. her favourite band is garbage. she kept a little black kitten in her room successfully without detection for a month before gloria found it, she let her keep him.

↬ THE STAGES OF INTIMACY

the details of gloria's face, the dark of her eyes and her timid little smile, never ceased to chip at the frozen heartstrings within his chest whenever he looked upon it. her face was one of the few things in this world, in all it's cruelest and ugliest forms, that simon felt was worth looking at.

but that didn't mean that he didn't appreciate the view her figure offered from BEHIND.

his arms fit perfectly around her waist as he came up from behind, taking advantage of the perch she would set up for herself out on the balcony. the darkness that nightfall cast over the fields around them didn't offer much of a view, but the sound of the soft summer breeze and distant cicadas offered a guarantee that it would be just the two of them for the rest of the night. that no one would bother them or come knocking at her door. that the world would leave them the fuck ALONE.

simon buried his nose behind her ear and breathed in the scent of her hair after a long day in the heat, his mask abandoned somewhere within the house. ❝ you smell like your goats, ❞ he has the audacity to say, his chuckle rumbling from his chest as it pressed against her back. however his complaint doesn't stop his lips from nipping at her earlobe, then down her neck.

strong fingers, once a weapon for the right price, now reach up to gently pull aside the black waves the kept his tongue from tasting more of the salt that clung to her skin, but instead of pulling away again his fingers kept a gentle lock around her strands as his mouth reached to kiss over her jaws, then even LOWER. deeper until he kept feel the rapid beating of her heart of jugular veins against the flat of his tongue.
