Thinking about that one fic that rewrote Cats (2019) with Pouncival as the audience surrogate... they were so right for that

#fern muses #cats the musical #pounce is legitimately such an interesting character to me and not just because he's silly #he's easily one of the most active characters in the story aside from macavity and grizabella #like. song to song. no matter what everybody else is doing you can Bet there's a pouncival subplot happening as well #I'm particularly fond of bustopher jones being the 'skimble corrals pouncival for three minutes straight' song #unlike victoria he LEGITIMATELY is struggling to mesh with the rest of the jellicles #he's still learning their customs and whatnot #and as the fic points out. he's the character who canonically touches grizabella before the 'touch me' line #(which we know is a goof that happened with victoria in 2019 anyway)#alas! he's also inflicted with the curse of 'one of the most unrecognizable characters onstage'
