Fernanda sighed and tried to keep her expression neutral, but the force with which she squeezed her glass gave her away. She was grateful that her sisters and the rest of the staff seemed too busy gossiping to pay any attention to her.

She knew that she should be paying attention to the conversation, listening, understanding and contributing to make the concert a success. But she trusted Ila and May, and even if something went wrong, she could always improvise something on stage, she had always been good at that.

She wished she could say the same about hiding her jealousy.

She had no right and she knew it. You were just helping them with the chorus, you were so much younger than her, you probably didn't even like women. And most importantly, you were decidedly taken.

That had been clear from the moment you put a foot in the studio, smiling and with your arm entwined with Carlos. You looked happy.

But she couldn't convince her stubborn heart of that. And less when there were times when it seemed that maybe, just maybe, you could feel something similar for her.

They were subtle things, like a discreet smile, a tease that she felt too intimate, brushing her hand when you two walked down the hall, or the fact that you were often looking at her discreetly, even when Carlos was right next to you.

Fer was not a woman who considered herself conflictive, she didn’t even like to raise her voice when Isabel and Mayte argued, choosing to simply roll her eyes and listen from afar. But she wasn't the type to deny her feelings to herself either, so it had been easy to confess that you had already held a special place in her life.

The hard part was having to live with it. Having to see you every day holding Carlos' hand, feeling so close and at the same time completely untouchable, feeling her entire body warming up when you hugged her and then seeing you come back to his side. It was a torture.

It was not that she had a very close relationship with Carlos that she was afraid of breaking, but she respected him and would never dare to hurt you, or to get in the way of your relationship. She was not like that. She was a lady.

She slowly approached you, trying to appear casual as she asked you if you could join her for a moment. You smiled at her before apologizing to Carlos and following her. The older woman could feel her heart beating faster and faster in her chest as you walked beside her, the back of your hand brushing hers.

She took you into her dressing room, knowing it was the only place you could be alone for a moment. And god knew she needed to do this without prying eyes from the team.

"Are you ok?" you asked, noticing how nervous she seemed all of a sudden.

Her green eyes locked on yours for a moment, wanting that with that gesture you could understand everything she needed to tell you.

It's the only time I'm going to tell you my secret

If you had no commitment, I would lose respect for you.

"I-" she started, but the words stuck in her throat.

How do you tell someone that they have stolen your dream? That you can no longer get her out of your mind and that you only want to be with her for the rest of your life? How do you tell a girl half your age that she has you crazy and in love? That she is why your day is better?

How do you tell someone you love her, when she belongs to someone else?

Carlos's name came to her mind and the image of you hugging him boiled her blood. She didn't want to hate him, but it was hard not to when he had everything she wanted.

"Fer?"

To hell, she decided.

She took a step closer to you, her hands burning with the desire to touch you, to feel you hers and close. It would be easy for her to just press you against the wall and take you into her arms. Taste your lips and swallow all the moans that her fingers could get out of you.

You could immediately feel the change in the atmosphere, and you knew something was not right. You adored Fer, maybe a little more than you should, and you didn't want to see her wrong. But you couldn't push her. She would tell you the truth when she was ready.

"Especial?" you asked

"There will be a special person for me at the concert" she admitted "I would like her to know how I feel about her"

"I see" you smiled, ignoring the twinge in your chest "What about, Cosas que nunca te dije?"

"Perfect" she gave you a sad smile.

She internally cursed herself for cowering like this. But when you came back to rehearsal and she saw you hug Carlos, she knew it was for the best. It didn't matter how different the story your eyes were telling hers was.
