This fandom needs a ship for Escarra. And I know Ricescarra exists, but no one cares about it. So really there needs to be either more Ricescarra love or a REAL ship with Escarra in it. So I propose Fernando Cruz x J. C. Escarra. Cruzcarra, perhaps?
Think about it. They were both late call-ups who realistically never thought they would make the Majors. You’ve got the inherent homoeroticism of a battery.
But also, Escarra’s story just has so much fanfiction potential??? Like come on, him having been an Uber driver leave so many avenues for shipping. Cruz is a passenger and a Major Leaguer already (okay, so the timeline doesn’t add up, but AU’s exist, and again it doesn’t have to be this ship, it just needs to have Escarra in it) and so, as the Yankees QOTD videos have revealed, all the Major Leaguers tend to lie about their jobs when an Uber driver asks, Cruz lies and just says, “Oh, I’m traveling.” They end up hitting it off and Cruz asks him out and then Escarra’s like “I don’t want to do long distance, I’m sorry,” and it’s too late for Cruz to admit he was lying so he just has to accept the rejection? Then Escarra seeing him around at some point later and misunderstandings? Perhaps Escarra assumes Cruz is married and that’s why he lied and then still tried to ask him out (he was trying to cheat)?
There’s just so much potential. And we’re wasting it.
