Seven days makes a week
It’s been just over seven days since my encounter with a mad man with a scalpel. Fortunately, I held my Stoic tongue and he only cut me twice — but in a most vulnerable location, one I use to pretty much to move my body in any direction. Gee thanks, doc.
Seven days and today is the first time I feel almost normal. No weird tearing sensation. Nor the six hornets all stinging in unison, three per…

Balor
“Sweet Dol Arrah deliver me. Boldrei shield me.” Ardiane’s eyes grew wide as the cave opened out into a massive chamber. In the centre stood a demon. Powerfully built, cloaked in its own wings, stripes marking its back as if it had been whipped, every foot of its body was bound in place by glowing silver chain. Even if it could move, the chamber was only barely large enough for the demon.
Smaller demons scuttled at its feet, their activities indistinct from this height. The chittering and jabbering of the smaller fiends was a near constant background noise. The larger demon rumbled, each pained syllable vibrating deep into the rock. Rhen stood, his skin colour already changing. “I'm going to get a closer look,” he murmured.
“What?!” Ardiane shouted. Her voice echoed off the stalactites. The rest of the party flinched. She dropped her voice. “Like Mabar you're going down there. You're going to get killed.” The sudden silence was broken by the balor’s rumbling voice. Then the screech of fiends. Ardiane looked at the others. “We're all going to get killed.”
Generals of fiendish armies on the Material plane, balors are huge, immortal, demons capable of destroying entire towns alone. They are also found on Fernia, where they are the devastating, hungry spirits of endless drought. It is unclear which came first, but they are equally terrifying and dangerous.
Most of the recorded balors on the material plane, the number of which is recorded by mythology as between 70 and 210, are bound deep beneath the earth in Khyber. Divinations, however, have their limits. It is suspected that a major contributor to the enmity of the Demon Wastes to civilisation is the presence of one or more of these demons.
Their presence on Fernia is more easily tracked. The dry, desolate realm of the balors is one of the safer areas on the plane of fire, as it embodies the scorching heat and emptiness of a desert wasteland rather than actively burning. The balors themselves are less forgiving, and are best avoided.
And you thought sneaking into Khyber would be “safer” - Ardiane
damn you making it so damn hard, cus i know you want it like i do...
