This is my mom's fern 🌿 she received at her wedding 💒 shower in 1957 from my great grandmother. She gave it to me when she went to live with my brother's family. My piece of the this fern 🌿 is in my living room gifted to me when I got married in 1985. Mom loved this fern and had it in her east window for almost 60 years. I recently gave mom a piece propagated from her fern 🌿 for her room, so it is back with her. I will see mom today over Zoom and am thankful for that. While shopping for plants, I've never seen other Platyceriums other than bifurcatum (commonly called "Staghorn fern") so I was super excited to find this one - the tag said Platycerium grande. This particular specimen was acquired while still "short" sized but you can see this slight protrusion (📷 2) becomes the crown when the plant reaches a "Venti" size (📷 3). Look closely at the differences between this and the Platycerium bifurcatum (📷 4). Happy Halloween! . I'm not scared about this Davallia fejeensis (rabbit's foot fern) having no drainage holes because I know it is getting enough light and I'm regularly aerating the soil.
