Hello! I am writing about a forest-dwelling people who have a very structured way of life, and are fairly happy with it. their economy is slightly communistic (?) but in some ways capitalistic...what problems do you think these people would face? I'm having trouble creating a conflict because I'm having so much fun world-building.
I’m so sorry it took so long for me to answer this! I had to dig around to find what I was looking for.
First, I’m not 100% well versed in these sorts of things, but from what I gather, it doesn’t seem like that the two can coexist peacefully for long, if at all. You’d really have to figure out a way to blend these & have it make sense because it looks like communism and capitalism are pretty much opposites.
Communism is is a socioeconomic system structured upon the common ownership of the means of production and characterized by the absence of social classes, money, and the state; as well as a social, political and economic ideology and movement that aims to establish this social order.
Capitalism is an economic system in which trade, industries, and the means of production are largely or entirely privately owned and operated for profit. Central characteristics of capitalism include private property, capital accumulation, wage labour and, in many models, competitive markets.
I liked these two pages the most. They really break down the issues that can arise with these two ideals, and should help point you in some good directions for conflict:

Hope this helped! If anyone has anything to add, please do!
