hi! for the one-shot idea, I want fluffy shinee!! idk maybe they're supposed to be filming something or they have a tight schedule but one of them is feeling ill and the rest have to take care of him?? (this is inspired by that one clip of key cheking taem's temperature during a radio show, idk if you've seen it before! it's on youtube) of course you don't have to write this, pls don't feel obligated!
Taemin had been feeling under the weather for a few days. He’d assumed he was just tired from all the rehearsing, all the recordings, all the busy schedules that came with a comeback. But then during a radio show, his head started pounding and he was shivering and Kibum, who was sitting next to him, gave him a funny look.
Kibum reached over and put the back his hand to Taemin’s forehead, pushing his bangs out of the way.
“You have a fever,” Kibum says softly. “You can rest on the way back home.”
Taemin scrubs his hands over his eyes, and the radio host takes the hint to not ask him anything.
Taemin gets very clingy when he’s not feeling well though. He’s sitting between Kibum and Jinki, and he scoots closer to Kibum and puts his head on his shoulder, whispering in his ear how he wants to go home now.
“Just another twenty minutes,” Kibum whispers back, a hand resting on Taemin’s head.
Taemin sighs and closes his eyes and tries to not shiver so much. He’s very cold. He needs another jacket, or Kibum to just give in and hug him like Taemin is silently demanding. You’d think after so many years together, essentially being each other’s second families, that Kibum would realize that Taemin wants him to hug him right now. He’s pressing his side very urgently against Kibum’s, whining quietly enough that it won’t get picked up by the microphones, and scrubbing at his eyes. All clear signs Taemin wants a hug.
Kibum eventually takes the hint and wraps an arm around Taemin in a half-hug. Taemin takes it as a win.
When they’re in the van to be taken back home, Taemin falls on the back seat and keeps his head in Kibum’s lap. Jinki even takes off his jacket and puts it over Taemin as a makeshift blanket.
“What happened?” Minho asks, sitting in the row behind Kibum and Taemin. He’s sitting in the middle, leaning over the seat to put a gentle hand on Taemin’s shoulder.
“He has a fever,” Kibum explains.
“Let me see,” Minho says, but he has a teasing tone in his voice. He pulls Taemin’s upper half up and presses a loud, sloppy kiss to Taemin’s forehead. It makes Taemin whine and swat him away and go back to burying himself against Kibum. Minho just laughs and says, “Definitey a fever.”
“What are you, my Gramma?” Taemin whines, swiping his hand over his forehead.
It just makes the other three chuckle, and even the manager can’t hide a laugh.
When they get back to the dorm, Taemin is marched right to the couch to lay down, Kibum staying with him and carding his fingers through Taemin’s hair. A few minutes later, Minho is putting on a movie from their “Sick Day” collection. It’s mainly Studio Ghibli movies, and Minho picked Spirited Away for the first one. Then Jinki comes over with soup and insists Taemin try to eat it.
It’s a night of cuddling on the couch watching movies and checking Taemin’s temperature. Thankfully the next day is supposed to just be practice, so Taemin can get away with staying home.
But the day after that includes a filming for a variety show. Taemin has to go, his fever has fallen enough that he’s been deemed well enough to film, but he’s still sluggish and tired and clingy.
He sticks close to Jinki. He can hide behind him and make it look silly, can whisper in his ear and make it look like he’s conspiring against the other two. People think it’s sweet. But Kibum and Minho are still worried about Taemin too, still checking on him during breaks and bringing him anything he might need. Water and snacks. Hugs.
Fans at the recording totally notice. There’s plenty of fancams about it. Plenty of fancams of Taemin cuddling against Jinki’s chest and holding Minho’s hand, and Kibum checking Taemin’s forehead for a fever.
When they get back home, Taemin is back to being cuddly and clingy. He’s not letting them leave his side. Kibum may or may not force Minho to take a picture of a certain sleepyhead cuddling against him and post it on Instagram.
