āJinki am I really a robot?ā Taemin squeaks, hanging off Jinkiās arms, looking terrified.
Jinki sighs, unable to finish his threat to the two who are piled on top of each other, letting out wheezing laughter, and he pulls Taemin close to him to guide him out of the room.
āTaemin, youāre not a robot.ā
āBut would you really even tell me if I was?ā
āYouāve gotta stop letting Kibum get in your head.ā
āHe said all my memories are just a memory chip in my robot brain!ā
āOh my God.ā
Jinki would like to point out that shit like this was conveniently not mentioned when he was told he was going to be the leader of his group. Children. He is in charge of literal children, and he doesnāt even really have a choice. Is this what parents feel like?
Kibum and Minho keep up the robot schtick for weeks, and nothing Jinki says or threatens makes them stop. The best he can do is reassure Taemin that he isnāt a robot, but for whatever reason, Jinkiās word is apparently not as convincing.
āIf I were a robot, you would tell me, right?ā
Jinki wants to pull all his hair out, because Taemin is even asking other label mates at this point, sounding desperate, making Jinki look like the incompetent leader he is. But Yunho, thankfully, just looks amused.
āYouāre not a robot Taemin,ā Yunho says. āPromise.ā
āAre you sure? Because Kibum and Minho said-ā
He goes into a long spiel about memory chips and synthetic skin and the perfect boyband member. Yunho, bless him, humors Taemin the entire time and continuously reassures him that he is in fact a human.
āThey said if I ever found out I was a robot that it would make me want to destroy my creators and the rest of the human race,ā Taemin explains.
āAnd do you feel like destroying the entire human race?ā Yunho asks.
āNot really,ā Taemin admits. āMaybe just Kibum and Minho.ā
It makes Yunho laugh, and he pats Taemin on the shoulder twice for good measure.
Jinki ends up just dragging Taemin back to their own dressing room. Why his youngest member canāt just listen to him Jinki will never know. Itās unfair. Itās terrible. Itās an insult. Jinki should tell him off for being such a brat.
Except Taemin is still as clingy as ever with him, linking their arms together as they walk through the halls, pressing his face close to Jinkiās.
āYou really totally absolutely promise Iām not a robot?ā
Taemin pouts at him. Itās intense and dramatic and makes Jinki laugh again.
āCan you help me get them back?ā
āI can try.ā
Itās not quite the same, but Jinki and Taemin sneak out the next morning after turning off the alarms for their morning practice. Jinki and Taemin are rewarded by their managers and choreographer for being on time, and Kibum and Minho are made to run laps around the building for being an hour late. Jinki and Taemin giggle with each other the entire time as they watch the other two run around the halls.
Idk au where theyāre having a fun night together, Kibum, smirking, says off-handedly, āTaemin, if you were a robot and I knew and you didnāt, would you want me to tell you?ā
And Taemin, naive and wide-eyed, asks, āoh my gosh, am I robot?ā
And for three whole weeks, Minho and Kibum convince Taemin heās a robot. Heās a robot programmed to dance and sing and be cute and sweet and do whatever the managers say.
Jinki spends the next two weeks trying to convince Taemin he is, in fact, not a robot.
Kibum and Minho think itās hilarious. Cackle and make beeping noises anytime Taemin walks by.
Jinki just tries shielding the youngest from their torment.
Taemin is just worried his childhood is all a memory chip installed in his brain.
Kibum and Minho literally fall on the floor, toppling over each other, gasping for air between screeching laughter when Taemin says as much.
I either want to write more for dandelion au or another au where idol taemin gets adopted by another idol or smth ive been on a kick with that idea lately
Thoughts on Advice Taemin be the top tier villain. Like he surpassed all ithers. (And also can we just apprecite that white out and that TATTOO)
Hmmm so Iām currently chilling in a hot tub drinking my weight in vodka spritzes, so Iām not gonna go into full detail for various reasons. But Advice Taemin is something I havenāt even begun to crack the surface of yet so perhaps I will come back to it later
ANYWAY
If weāre following my clone theory, I think Advice Taemin is a clone gone rogue maybe. He knows heās a clone and heās pissed about it and he can no longer distinguish between reality and the false memories heās been given. Or heās perhaps trying to tell others that heās a clone, but without outright saying it. Either way heās Mad.
If there is a different Big Bad Evil Guy controlling the experiments shinee have been under and thus controlling the evil clones, Advice Taemin is basically telling them to fuck right off. Heās escaped from them and trying to get help maybe.
The scene where his eye becomes a keyhole and you see plaid stockings taemin in a tiny hotel room, I think that could be showing this cloneās consciousness stuck inside the fake memories heās been given. It could also be that he was trapped, because he tried rebelling before but the BBEG locked him up to keep him quiet and out of the way.
The car scene is him escaping and essentially screwing himself over. Heās been in an accident and heās fucked up and he has no idea where he is. Will he find help? Will help find him? Idk man

However, my own personal theory is that, starting from the Everybody mv, SHINee has steadily become villains in this strange alternate reality
Bear with me, bc everything after this is a clusterfuck of my stream of consciousness bc I have no real theory just a lot of little points and ideas and not all of them necessarily go together or make sense together lmao
They def look like theyāre being experimented on in the beginning of the everybody mv. So Iām gonna guess that this experimentation makes them bitter to their fate, maybe makes them turn on others they were once friends with (e.g exo, nct, other sm groups) because they feel they werenāt protected or bc their friends let the experimentation happen. So they turn to the dark side lmao to get their Petty Revenge
Part of me wants TVXQ to be big bad evil gods based solely on their Keep Your Head Down mv lmao so maybe they took SHINee under their wing and taught them to fine art of being powerful and hot and evil
In the original SuperM teasers, Taemin looked like some sort of spacey collector mastermind. Like he was collecting all the others, keeping them inprisoned, maybe waiting for the other SHINee members to return to get revenge together
In his solo mvs, he seems to go from petty criminal to the evil mastermind. He goes from robbing a 7-11 in PYN to whatever the fuck was happening in the Criminal mv and then ascending to some ethereal plane during Idea. Part of me thinks this shows how Taemin can maybe jump from different realities/planes of existence? Or possibly even Two Taeminās (ooOoOoh) Where one stays wreaking havoc on one plane to distract the others while Evil Mastermind Taemin can work in the background undistrubed.
The idea of doppelgƤnger members also works with the Donāt Call Me mv. Youāve got that one scene where red outfit key is on a tv screen, then weird feather hat key walks by him. Perhaps theyāre keeping their doppelgƤnger distractions under heavy surveillance to see what the other sm groups are up to.
Then you have Fake Reality SHINee. I think in actuality that might be The Real SHINee, itās their consciousnesses kept in some fake reality, like theyāre actually knocked out and kept hooked up to a simulation to keep their brains active.
So yes, SHINee are the villains causing all these problems, but itās actually the evil experiments that were created during the opening of the Everybody mv. Meanwhile, real SHINee are still being experimented on, still being harvested for brainwaves or more clones or some shit, and theyāre trapped in this fake reality that looks like a 1950s mid century modern cul de sac that I love and wish had a full mv
And you know what, I donāt think evil mastermind SHINee even KNOWS theyāre also clones. Or would they? Is there another Big Bad Guy? Idk yet I have too many ideas

I have a whole wild theory about the sm cinematic universe where thereās several different versions of SHINee and they (+superm taemin) are weird evil clones donāt even get me STARTED on evil superm taemin-
About the dandelion au, it made me think of Heechul looking like a total hardass, hating kids for breaking his stuff and whatever, but inside he is a total softie. Like it takes him a while to warm up to people, but is actually super nice and loves kids? Or he could be someone who really wanted kids and it didn't work out for whatever reason so now he is bitter, but Taemin totally makes Heechul fall for him, because we all know, whoever doesn't love Taemin is either lying to us or himself.
The kids are all weary of Mr. Heechul. He has lots of intimidating looking friends, some of his garden gnomes are kinda creepy, and the kids have never actually stuck around long enough to find out if heāll actually yell at them for something or not. Theyāve built up this image of a scary mean neighbor in their heads, and they can never understand why the sweet and lovely Miss Boa always chats so nicely with him. Doesnāt she know Mr. Heechul is a meanie? It baffles them entirely.
Until one weekend afternoon when the boys are playing on the sidewalk, drawing racing tracks with sidewalk chalk and daring each other to try the new impossible tracks theyāve made. Kibum is especially good at drawing extra windy and curly tracks, then laughing madly when the other two get dizzy from spinning too much.
Meanwhile, Taemin is still on the hunt to collect all the dandelions he can find. Heās made his way into Mr. Heechulās yard, carefully navigating through the garden gnomes, but even going so far as to pat a few on the head. Theyāre magical, after all, according to Taemin. Heās convinced they move around at night, that theyāre never in the same position each morning, and that they talk with fairies and tell Mr. Heechul all sorts of secrets. Thatās how Mr. Heechul knew it was Minho and Kibum who broke one of his gnomes, Taemin was convinced.
In fact, Taemin is convinced that Mr. Heechul is some sort of magical wizard.
And while the older boys are busy trying to make each other dizzy and fall over on their chalk paths, Taemin is perfectly content continue picking dandelions and keep them in the bottom of his shirt as he holds it folded up like a pocket. And when Mr. Heechul comes out on his porch to see what Taemin is up to, none of the older boys notice.
āWhat are you doinā there, Taemin?ā Mr. Heechul calls.
āPickinā dandy-lions,ā Taemin says in a matter-of-fact tone, picking another one as he says it. āTo make wishes.ā
āWell I want you to be careful around the gnomes, okay?ā Mr. Heechul says gently. āIf they break, you might hurt yourself.ā
āIāll be extra specially careful,ā Taemin insists, tip-toeing around the grass until heās on the stone path that leads up to the porch. Then he bolts towards the porch, dandelion fluff floating from his shirt and a grin on his face as he holds up a dandelion. āYou make a wish too!ā
Mr. Heechul laughs and kneels down, blowing on the fluff and smiling at the sweet little giggle Taemin lets out.
āDid you wish for more wizard spells?ā
Mr. Heechul looks confused for a moment, only to laugh along with Taemin.
āAnd what sort of wizard spells do you think I already have?ā Mr. Heechul asks.
āYou magic-ed your gnomes to tell you secrets,ā Taemin tells him. āThey walk around at night and protect your yard. With the fairies.ā
Taemin nods his head as he tells him, as if this all just common knowledge, and Mr. Heechul canāt stop grinning the entire time. He listens intently as Taemin continues telling him all about how he thinks Mr. Heechul is a wizard and his whole house is full of magic.
āTaemin!ā Jinki calls, and Taemin snaps his head to see the three older boys all staring at him with wide eyes, looking scared. āWe gotta go home!ā
āBut my dandelions!ā Taemin whines.
āWe can make wishes at home!ā Jinki insists, and he runs quickly up to Mr. Heechulās porch to grab Taeminās hand and drag him along.
Taemin whines the entire time, his left hand trying to hold the bottom of his shirt closed so he can keep his dandelions from falling out, but most of the flowers trail behind them as they run home.
āDonāt talk to Mr. Heechul, heās mean and scary!ā Jinki scolds him once theyāre in their own backyard.
āNuh-uh!ā Taemin argues. āHeās a magic wizard!ā
āYou watch too many cartoons,ā is all Jinki says before he drags Taemin over to the swings to distract him.
That doesnāt keep Taemin away. Instead, heās more determined to hop around Mr. Heechulās yard, talking to the garden gnomes and picking dandelions. When Mr. Heechul comes out to check on him, he even brings Taemin a little stuffed gnome.
āI used a spell on him, and you can keep him with you to protect you,ā Mr. Heechul tells him.
Taemin thinks itās the most amazing gift heās ever been given. He stays and talks with Mr. Heechul for a while, about magic and fairies and gnomes, before he runs off with the gnome in one hand and a fistful of dandelions in the other.
The next day heās back in Mr. Heechulās yard, telling Mr. Heechul now heās keeping his new magic gnome in his room to keep the monsters away.
āWill he talk to fairies too? Like your gnomes?ā Taemin asks. āEven though heās not a garden gnome?ā
āIf you want him to, heāll talk to the fairies,ā Mr. Heechul laughs.
It quickly becomes Taeminās new favorite toy, and he carries it around everywhere. It always makes Mr. Heechul smile when he sees Taemin carrying it around, picking dandelions and chatting about fairies.
It also makes him laugh when he hears Taemin loudly insisting to the other boys, āMr. Heechul is a magic wizard!ā
