Song of the Day - January 20, 2018

Tablo - Dear TV

[M] This song is pretty much how I feel about current events and the world as of late. Tablo says it all. “Dear TV, Desensitize me...” pretty much sums up how plugged in and desensitized we are to the travesties of our current events and worlds. 10/20 years ago, hearing about a mass shooting was tragic, it made people sick to their stomach. Today its almost just a passing though, “oh did you hear about that shooting in ____?” Tablo calls out the TV/ media for what it is greed and attention. Maybe reading the news has made me bitter but then again maybe more of us need to have a more bitter out look on what our society has become. I am sorry I didn’t intend to turn this into a societal rant but what can I say, this song just brings it on. 

Politics and media aside, Dear TV is so genius in its simplicity and that is what makes it so impactful and capable of leaving an impression and starting a conversation and that is worth every second of this song. Tablo’s whole Fever’s End album is absolutely genius and I recommend giving it a listen through or picking up a copy (if you can find one). 

[S] Gotta love Tablo. This is actually something I have thought about posting a few times in the past as well but never actually got around to it so I am glad M finally did. Table is a musical genius and I love tracks like this. There is deep meaning in the things Tablo writes about and the angst I feel right now towards life makes tablos rant all the more bitter sweet.

[C] Back in the day when this came out I as weirded out by the fact that a 3 minute track only has about a 50 second rap and that was it. Tablo speaks nothing but the truth as usual. One of the reasons I love Tablo is his lyrics like this I will forever be able to appreciate everything that is Tablo, he is amazing at what he does.

After the unfortunate events as a result of the untrue Tajinyo scandal in May 2010, Tablo took a forced long hiatus from music until he signed under YG Ent and released Fever’s End in 2011. This album is a treasure.

It was more like I was leaving for a faraway place and had to pack things away and empty out my room. That was my mindset when I started writing. That's how the album "Fever's End" came to be. But what I thought would be the end turned out to be a new beginning. Sometimes, still, I'm overcome with fear and worry, but that's when I think of the people that said this album gave them strength. I think of the people that were there for me.
