There’s a glow produced by flashlight that illuminates the house, shows off dust and wear and tear. But at the same time, there’s plenty left out of sight, and Alex moves especially careful. His eyes flicker over everything, ears aware of even the slightly squeak. It was difficult, considering every moment produces a creak, the floorboards worryingly loud. It was as if the place might fall apart at any moment.
The sound upstairs, though, is something else. He freezes, listens, raises a finger to get Ash to pause. No response at first, and for a second, he even closes his eyes to try and listen a little bit better. Whatever he’s trying, it doesn’t work, and an annoyed expression ends up taking over his face.
ALEX: I thought I heard something. Upstairs.
His own flashlight flickers over to a staircase. It doesn’t look very structurally sound.
ALEX: I think I’m gonna go look.
