give ‘em the runaround.

look, na hawon makes mistakes. he’s human (sorta), he’s very fallible, and he’d even go so far as to say he makes a lot of mistakes. but sometimes the mistakes are meaningless; unnoticed and meaningless, ultimately harmless to himself and others. sometimes the mistakes are grave and come with consequences. sometimes hawon makes promises that aren’t true, sells lies to people who he doesn’t know have the means to see through them. sometimes hawon is stupid. this is sometimes.
there’s not much worse than an angry werewolf with a hot temper who’s mad that hawon’s charm of restraint was nothing more than a cheap prop. the wolf could smell the magic on him, knew he was perfectly capable of making something real to get him through full moons, but hawon’s human senses only gave him a surface-level understanding of the situation. he just saw another gym buff who was probably struggling to keep from going too hard after recovering from a sports injury or something like that, sold a pretty but useless pendant with a hollow promise, and didn’t even think twice.
honestly, hawon doesn’t even remember this guy in particular. he can’t be sure he was the one who sold him anything, but the werewolf is convinced and that’s all that matters.
it’s a good thing he’s quick on his feet, dodging through crowds and tight spaces even though a werewolf is going to be much stronger and faster than he can ever hope to be. the crowds make it easier, make it harder for a wolf to unleash his power without fear of being shot down by hunters. but hawon’s endurance can only last him so long. he gasps for breath when he comes to a stop, grabbing the arm of a stranger and hoping that one witness is enough to keep him from the beating of a lifetime.
“just be cool,” he flashes a grin, wild and unabashed even in the face of danger. “some guy thinks i scammed him, i don’t even know who he is. just don’t let him get me alone.” he huffs and puffs, catching his breath between words. it’s a busy enough area; surely nothing will happen.
