A total lunar eclipse, and nearly in apogee. It made Lacha restless to say the least. It was an uncertain time after all and lunar eclipse just spelled trouble. Danger was always around the corner when you were the Queen of a Court, but gaps in the veil, ley lines prickling with extra power... It was always dangerous dealing. But, her daughter was going to a Summer Festival, as were quite a few other fey it seemed, and Lacha had been cooped away for some time that week.
Luna Park was a whirl of color and rust, sea salt hanging in the air and garish paint just covering up decay. Lacha loved it. Everything about it felt sharp and shot through with rotten citrus, chemical sugar. A smile spanned her face as she watched the many families, groups of teenagers, couples, teem around the park. “You’re right, a thaisce,” Lacha said, looking askance to her daughter. “This is fun.” Fun wasn’t a priority for Lacha and soon enough it wouldn’t be one for Camellia either. And while she would have to train that desire out of her daughter, one day, tonight they both could bask in it.
Brushing a few strands of hair that had tumbled from her bun out of her face, Lacha looked to Camellia. “Now, I know you’re going off to abandon your old mother before too long,” she teased, “but what would you like to do first? I seem to remember a certain little girl’s taste for cotton candy. Or perhaps you’d like to try your luck against me at one of those charming games?”
