Heya! I was reading your newest FF post (heartbreaking btw, I loved it sm; your writing gives me envy like no other) and I was jamming out to Spotify because I have a severe music addiction, and I think I found a song that gives me the exact same, highly specific vibes that FF does. Be Nice To Me by the Front Bottoms. Idk what it is about it, but like? It fits so well? Just the energy it has is so identical to FF's energy, and it hit me out of nowhere like a semi truck.

That is such a nice thing to say TT^TT!!!!!! I'm really glad people liked this part. I hope it adds something to any rereads people do of FF since I've been waiting to drop this bad boy for literally months at this point.

I had NEVER heard this song before but it now gets to join the Smith playlist!!!

I am literally so bad at finding songs for things (My FF list is just World's Smallest violin and Popular (Nicky and Smith's joking BFF song)) so I love getting such a great song to add!!!

Well I love dialogue. LOVE it. some of my favorite stuff to write. I think this exchange from mitw is up there

I thought it representing sibling energy well, while also being funny and true to their characters. It also moved the conversation in the direction I needed it to go in (which the dialogue I write simply does not always do). Sexy holy Teflon matrimony still make-a me giggle

The first one I've cowritten with my friend when I was 14-15yo? Then had a loooong break and came back to writing 2 years ago with a fanfic for Detroit: Become Human

Yes, I have 2, actually - and I hope to share one of them in the next mini series.

29: What part of the writing process do you enjoy the most?

Ah - picking the music and daydreaming about the plot! 😅 I like editing too, just adding that extra flow is really satisfying.

51. Rant or Gush about one thing you love or hate in the world of fanfiction! Go!

nah fam let’s do both!

I really hate how derided fanfiction is by people who don’t read or write it. I hate that it’s considered some sort of lesser writing simply by virtue of being fanfiction. And maybe it’s personal hang up, but every time I talk about writing, I have a small moment of panic inside me when the person asks what I’m writing because so many reactions I’ve had from people over the years have, for the longest time, made me feel like a bad writer for writing fanfiction, as if that’s somehow not as good as writing my own original fiction. 

We could obvs argue about creating AUs being a form of original ficiton but that’s a whole other thing

That being said, I absolutely LOVE how amazing and inclusive fanfiction is. People create these whole stories and communities around media out of their sheer love (maybe not for the source material) for the characters and I think that’s really beautiful. 

Some of the best stuff I’ve ever written and some of the best stuff I’ve ever read has been Fanfiction. 

But most of all, I love how fanfiction brings people together. I have made countless friends over the years because of fanfic and that’s not something I’d ever give up. There are these incredible support systems built around fanfic because fanfic at its core comes from people wanting more of something, and banding together to make more of it and that bonds you with people in a way that not a lot of other things do.
