A gift for a friend of her Viera.
Lowkey been forgetting I had tumblr. Oops. Here is my depiction of summoners. Credits to Nox for giving me the idea haha.
Final Fantasy 14: Fluffy Boy Adventures in South America (Possibly with Less Colonialism)
Still playing Final Fantasy 14, and about to go into Dawntrail, with my fluffy catboy summoner coming out of the daisy chain of personal trauma, revenge, colonialism, and loss that has been the entire game since Heavensward.
That they're keeping the story so close to the chest is something, especially given the 'summer vacation' theme they seem to be going with, and with the entire lack of foreshadowing in the post-game of Endwalker mixed with its disappointing elements (likely due to Square Enix throwing all the money and goodwill the game makes into its other moneysinks of projects that either 'don't meet expectations' despite being massive successes (ff16, FF7 Rebirth) or die (all the damn mobile games). I did like post-endwalker fine, but it was a lot less than the previous two postgames, and was mostly failed experiments like variant dungeons and island sanctuary that didn't really meet the expectations (i'm keeping the reused words since its interesting to note that high expectations seems to be a recurring issue with Squeenix and with the game industry as a whole).
I am going in optimistic, especially since I didn't really share the hatred and disappointment over Summoner's rework and yet feel that Solar Bahamut being the new addition was a missed opportunity which was an extremely flexible foundation, both mechanically and narratively (Summoner has so many options due to Primals being core to nearly every story element in the game and there being many major options in the Main story alone). I do appreciate the Lunar Bahamut reference and it being a Hydaelyn themed version as opposed to Lunar's Zodiark, with the lunar brands on the wings and the Hydaelyn-like attacks, but it speaks to the direction they seem intent to take of unifying the Jobs to fit specific Role playstyles that people feel is reducing their uniqueness.
Given that the game has a lot of colonialism themes and the real-world equivalent of Tural being defined by a history of conquest and abuse, and the only information we have on the story is a liongirl princess wanting us to help prevent a warmonger from turning Tural on the recently-collaped Garlean Empire, i'm interested to see how much it dodged the greater debate or leans into it.
Don't mind me i'm just practicing summoning demons and other creatures from the void what can possibly go wrong
