Holy Ship! I just finished Watching the Hazbin season 2 finale! And I just need to talk about it *spoilers*
So... I am so sad. There was not enough Alastor in the finale. The balance was perfect, but five more seconds of Lucifer and Alastor reacting. Is Alastor the evil radio demon who won't do anything for free? Or did Alastor just really want Rosie to fix his staff, because he could have held it over her head, and he didn't. He just wanted his staff back.
Lucifer and Alastor still haven't talked. At all. And Lilith rung? And we didn't see any of it reacting?
People say Rosie is explained in season 3. But we didn't even get a tease with that. The finale episodes were action packed and near perfect. But Also? They spoil and tease at nothing. What... why? Why? I'm so confused.
What is there to write fanfics about. Everyone though Lilith was coming last season... she wasn't.
I thought I'd want to rewrite season 2, but it's been all set up no rewards. Like, symbology wise. What is the moral of season 2? Don't be Vox. Don't trust Alastor? Or Do?
That fight was NOT an Alastor win, by the way. Which I like. Only friends should win imo, but everyone deserves to be at their best. But, it's just... plain? It explored so many characters. And we learned nothing about their morals. Not nothing, but, apart from Husk, we didn't really spend time with anyone.
Sera's ark was lit. Emily's was cool too. Lute falling to Adam, and the trauma there, is super cool. Charlie and the songs, awesome. The outfits are cool. I kept looking at Alastor through that whole seen, and it did no help. It didn't- we were already watching him? Why hype for no payoff.
It feels like Alastor's backstory is over and done with. Which... it shouldn't be? He... used to be a main character? It felt like Angel Dust was more important, but that is because Alastor and Lucifer care about no-one. What happened to those two protecting the hotel? I mean, people are still fighting, right? Right?
We don't see Hell after the fight? No. That's dissapointing. The Vee's story is fun, with Val taking the credit. But still... The acid Dragon V-named overlord said they were pretending nothing happened. So, why are there so many people staying at the hotel? It doesn't make sense.
The set up has lead to a mute point. Season 2 got everyone back to where they were suppose to be season 1. There is nothing going on anyway. We aren't waiting for something. It's an empty slate. And that... is more dissapointing than I expected, ngl? I'm exhilerated, and happy, and satisfied. I watched season 2 again, casually. But there isn't really much to break down from the finale.
After Season 1 I had so many things to research. Charlie's approach, sir pentious, how heaven and hell work, redemption, Alastor and his staff and his issues, how bad Lucifer's situation was. What do we have now?
Umm... Rosie is powerful? But she isn't important to any main characters. She was big to Alastor and Charlie, but unless she is back at the hotel? I don't really care?
Will Cherri Get Redemption? Obviously, her lover is up in Heaven. She'll fight for it.
Will Husk and Angel get back together? After he gets over the brainwashing trauma? Obviously. Unless Angel found someone else through the trauma, doubt it though.
Angel's Brother? His father? Nope. He's with Valentino. Maybe he'll join the Vee's? I doubt it though. Angel and Valentino might figure things out. Valentino and Velvette figuring out how to get power without loosing their shit like Vox? I will trust that. That's probably the most interesting thing.
Charlie and Her Mum? Meh, okay. I think she's a horrible person. There is the Roo is Lilith in Heaven, Lilith is Rosie thing... but, even then, we know Rosie now. I don't really care. We already had so much time waiting for that.
Vaggie and her angel friend? I feel like it won't be mentioned again. PTSD goes brr but it was the past, and not a main point. Carmilla and Vaggie? We're definintely getting that again. I want that.
Vaggie's name. Trashy. But they didn't build anyone or anything up. Imagine if she went with Vagatha, it's a full name, like what Aastor did call her a few times (or fandom Al did). But, I guess... they didn't develop that.
She wanted us to see Charlie as good, the new generatio in Emily is good, hearing from first person sources beats all (it doesn't actually) (I don't think that should have worked. The saving should, pentious be danged). Velvette... she doesn't even matter anymore? What about Vox the box? Did Luci not get revenge, at all? He wasn't even traumatised, was he? We didn't get to see him enough. Is he even going to be in next season?
It feels like Hazbin Hotel is actually going to be about redemption now... and I actually don't care? About that? I'm here for found family. I wanted them to trap Alastor in found family? I guess that isn't so much a focus anymore? They aren't worried about him and his risk to the hotel anymore.
Angel Dust deserved a mention. Having all the overlords come together was cool. But it sort of felt like a waste. Symbolically, they all came together. But it doesn't feel like it should have mattered to any of them. But it did? But it doesn't.
I feel like the overlord build up of season 1 was dropped. Alastor's focus episode, and this season, he got all his goals. There was no teaser about what is next for him. I... he's my fave. I'm watching for him. I wrote a good 300,000 words of fanfic and he doesn't even have a plotline for next season. I said RadioApple, but radio apple is two men with trust issues figuring out their shit together. Why does it feel like Alastor is going to try and eat Lucifer the whole of season 3 and that's it?
If we are still meant to care about Rosie, why isn't she even mentioned in the final moments?
I wish there was symbolism with mage Velvette fighting Kitchen Maid Adam Killer Niffty (there wasn't). I wish there was more about Husk and Valentino compared (because they were both fighting for angel. Not to mention, overlord Cherri Bomb got her butt kicked huh? Nope. Not cool, nope, not really.) But, those two could have been compared in a fight seen. Sneaky versus truth, defense versus protection. But I suppose, that would have made angel stay. Actually, they probably should have forced Angel to stay. He needs medical help? Why did they let him back to the Vee's tower? He could make that choice at a later date. Not to mention, he's walking back? To Vox? That is not a sane choice anyone in their right mind would be making. I know people need to make their own choices but sometimes they're under the influence and they CAN'T CONSENT. Maybe that's a moral for season 3? But... it's... it just feels like they don't want Huskerdust to happen yet honestly. That's not really very cool. Imo.
Vox and Alastor's fight turning into Alastor Versus a "dog". (He's supposedly scared of dog?) Alastor didn't even get into his final form in that fight. He was smart, he was well placed, he is a good fighter. He was wounded heavily, until Rosie healed him. Now what.
...It felt like Alastor used to keep Vox in check. Now, Hell is already... that isn't right? Abused people don't trust help? It feels... unrealistic in the outcome. And I know that's because they can deal with it in Season 2, but the last moments are suppose to tease that. The visuals, the moral was okay, but the writing forgot next season need to be a thing.
Baxter's development was 5 seconds. And it was a good five seconds. But it was also trash. People don't... act like that. Not evil scientists struggling for money to keep to their experiments. Not people who have to fight to stay alive. Hell is a warzone. Why are they all friends now?
I can't wait to hear others opinions. Like. I'm... opinions pls.
