Ignis Scientia may look like some strict professor, but he keeps daggers inside his pockets. What’s even more frightening is the fact that he can set them on fire, send electric shockwaves with it and even freeze anything in its path.
The Royal Advisor and also a ‘gangstah’ in the streets, as Noct calls him. Nobody messes with Ignis Scientia.
Notes: NEVER EXPECTED TO DO A FOLLOW UP. Yet, someone left me a nice comment over on AO3, and I got hit over the head with some inspiration for a continuation.
Summary: You’ve lived years with the Goddess of the sea, but it couldn’t last. Not yet anyways. There’s something you need to do first. 2080 words.
It had been ages since you had walked into the sea’s embrace. Thousands of years. You’d watched your village rise and then fall, and with them went the hibiscus offering that were once yearly. Familiar landmarks had become weathered away and foreign. Even your name had vanished into the years. But you knew peace at Leviathan’s side. You didn’t know how your life had become so prolonged and didn’t care enough to ask. All you knew was that you were content.
Then there came a day when your small slice of the heavens had another, a stranger to you, set foot on the sands of Leviathan’s beach.
“Who are you?” You called as you stood up straight, a basket of seaweed on your hip, and hair trailing over your shoulders.
The woman stood on the beach with two dogs, her eyes closed and a small, soft smile on her face. She was dressed richly in blacks and golds. Her hair long and straight. The dogs at her side, an unfamiliar sight, were opposites. One with a white coat, and dark markings around her eyes, and the other with a black coat with white around his eyes.
How you knew what they were, you didn’t understand.
“The girl has been chosen yet doesn’t know her calling.” The woman suddenly spoke and opened her eyes. The most brilliant green stare pinned you in place, and all at once you knew who she was.
“Forgive me.” You quickly knelt on one knee in the tide, bowing your head, “I didn’t recognize who you were, Lady Messenger. Leviathan is in her home, if you wish to speak with her.”
You didn’t even feel the woman come near you until her hands came to rest on your face and guided you into looking up at her. They were cold, not like Leviathan’s sea cooled skin, but called to mind frozen lakes, snow, and wind. You had to suppress a shiver as you met her gaze.
“The Tide Mother is not what beckons me here.” She said, studying your face. “You are the one I needed to see.”
You couldn’t help the surprise that flashed across your face, “Me? What could you need of me Lady Messenger?”
The Messenger guided you to your feet and took your hands to hold in her own. But when she opened her mouth to speak, a wrath filled yell echoed through the air, and all at once you were torn from the messenger’s hold.
“Trespasser! Sneak!” Leviathan hissed, in her mortal form, now standing with you wrapped in her arms. “I forbid all others from my realm!”
“You would hide the girl from her calling.” The woman replied, her eyes flashing a pale blue for a single moment. And seeing it made your heart leap into your throat. There was danger in those eyes, something you weren’t sure that even Leviathan could hold her own against.
The hold on you tightened, and you felt Leviathan pressed her face into your hair. But what you couldn’t see was that her eyes remained uncovered and peered over your hair at the messengers. And even further behind you both, serpents made of water had risen from the tides, fangs bared and twisting through the air.
“You knew the cost of taking in a mortal, mother of the tides,” She continued, taking a step forward. An almost inaudible hiss left Leviathan, only heard by you due to how she was pressed against you. “Daughter of the deep. The time has come for her to join us.”
A gasp left you when the messenger stepped onto the water and it froze under her feet. Solid blocks of ice that touched the sea floor that were unmoving.
“W-what is she talking about?” You asked quietly, a slight tremble beginning to run through you. The water around all of you was nearly ice, something that you had become unfamiliar with since Leviathan brought you here. You were cold for the first time in a long time.
A few moments of silence passed, with you and Leviathan simply standing in the tide together. Then she finally started to answer, “Mortals are not meant for long lives. Nor are the creatures of Eos.”
You glanced up at the messenger and frowned. Her eyes were closed again, but this felt like it should have been a private conversation for the two of you. So, with one of the gifts that Leviathan had given you, you waved your hand and a small curtain of water cut you off from the messenger. Only then did you turn around in Leviathan’s arms, or rather you tried. When she felt you move she tightened her hold on you, as if worried you would try to get away.
“Dearest, please.” You whisper.
Reluctantly she began to loosen her hold but didn’t let you go. Not entirely. As if she was scared you would willingly leave her arms. So, you got to see the slightest hint of surprise on her face when you only turned around. But then it was gone, and you could feel her arms relax. In turn, you wrapped your arms around her waist and laid your head on her shoulder.
When both of you settled, Leviathan calmed by your heartbeat, she began to speak again, “A deal, made long ago, was struck among the gods. This deal was to find up to four we each found worthy, and name them to a group that would never exceed 24.”
Something like discomfort began to settle into your stomach as she continued, “The 24 would guide the bloodline of healers, until the last of the line disappears from this world. These 24 were named messengers. The Infernian selected two creatures of Eos, but no more, refusing to choose any among men for fear of further betrayal. The Glacian selected only one, finding one among the mortals serving the founder king of Lucis as the first shield, a woman of grace and strength named Gentiana.”
She paused then, and for the first time since you’d come here, you could hear the slightest waver in her voice, “A fourth chosen, gifted long life and the strength of the sea by the Hydraean.”
You pulled your head off her shoulder and looked into her eyes, shock playing across your face.
“Found worthy through the devotion and compassion, earning a place among the 24.”
You were speechless, stunned by the revelation. So much so that you didn’t notice that she waved a hand at the water wall you’d called, and it fell back into the sea. It was only when you felt icy hands on your arms that you realized you were back on the beach, moved there by Leviathan’s strange magic. But also, when you turned your head to look, you saw that Gentiana was the one who was holding onto you now as well.
“She must complete her calling.” She intoned, “Then the girl will be able to return with her reward.”
“I don’t want a reward.” You said turning away from the woman, Gentiana you reminded yourself, and looking up at Leviathan. “I want to stay with you.”
Leviathan looked like she was about to say something, but then shut her mouth and shook her head, her braids falling over her shoulders. “You must go, all the same. No god magic could keep you from going.”
“B-but…” You were scared. You didn’t want to leave her side, and yet she relaxed her hold on you and willingly pushed you away. The messenger’s hands squeezed for the briefest of seconds, as if meant to be comforting, and then let go. But one did hold your hand and begin guiding you toward where the dogs sat.
You realized then that you were going. Right at that moment. Before you could get much farther, you turned your head and met Leviathan’s eyes, which were watching you walk away.
“I’ll come back.” You found yourself saying. “When this is done, and I complete whatever it is, I’ll return to you.”
She pressed her lips together, as if trying her best to keep her face neutral. You hated when she did that. Because behind her, the water was churning, as if there was a storm in the air. Proof that she didn’t want you to go either.
“The girl lives up to her title.” Gentiana said while still gently pulling you along, “The devoted. You’ll find your reward more than enough.”
It was only then, that you turned to look at your fellow messenger, hissing. “Tell me what it is, and I’ll decide for myself if it’s enough for awaking the ire of a Goddess.”
“It is true, the sea has been kinder since you were named one of us.” She said, and then stopped when you were standing by the two dogs. “It’ll be crueler while you’re away we imagine. But the reward has always been to spend eternity among the gods if we so choose. Once our duty is complete, we keep our eternity.”
That made your heart clench. Leviathan wanted eternity with you as well, which you knew, but to KNOW was something else. “Then I’ll do it. I don’t have a choice, but it feels like I do now. We complete our task, and I return to Leviathan’s side.”
Gentiana opened her eyes again, this time smiling, and simply nodding her head. With a sigh, you steeled yourself for whatever the future held for you, and allowed the other messengers to whisk you away.
~
Leviathan watched from the beach as she left, and already this place, crafted for you, felt a lot less welcoming to her. The water was churning behind her, years of pent up energy inside the waves. It had been restless, missing the days when Leviathan hadn’t been tempered by your presence. She turned away from the beach and began to walk across the sands, meaning to walk into the water and return to her truer form. But then something caught her eye, and she turned to look.
In the waves, having washed up onto the sands, was the basket of seaweed you’d been collecting. It caused her to pause again, and inside her chest she could feel something grip what was her heart in this body, and squeeze. She swallowed hard and then turned back to the water, looking into it.
She didn’t know how to deal with missing someone. She hadn’t been able to deal with it before, and she couldn’t deal with it now. Especially since messengers could die before fulfilling their calling. Cupita, her messenger, could die, just as Hibiscus the mortal did. And the older god Titan wouldn’t be able to turn her into a flower for Leviathan to remember her this time. He was under that accursed rock. She could lose all traces of her. Forever. She could feel her breathing quicken, and her chest began to rise and fall rapidly. It was too much.
She fell to her knees and let out a scream.
The sea became violent in a way that hadn’t been seen for thousands of years, tossing and turn with waves higher than the cliffs that surrounded their home. Leviathan poured out her energy into the waves, and they reveled in the chaos. It made her feel better, at least until Leviathan actually looked out into the sea. She saw the chaos and destruction and wondered if Cupita would have approved. And when she found the answer lacking she forced it all to stop. Her hands shook as she got to her feet, scared, for the first time, of the destruction she could cause on a whim.
She didn’t want that.
Instead of letting out all her emotions and pushing them into the waves, she walked into the water and allowed it to take her to a long-forgotten altar, built by mortal hands after the god’s war had ended to long ago. There, she was lucky. A few humans were doing a rite, trying to appease her. It had been days of storms for them apparently, yet only felt like moments to her. She turned into her serpent form and did as their story of her suggested.
She went to sleep, and the water turned calm before their eyes. She’d sleep until the last Oracle came to wake her. Perhaps then Cupita could return, or at the very least, she’d be able to see her Cupita at the Oracle’s side.
*rolls* Since you did say your requests were open~ Might I request some Ravus fluff in a reader insert? Got a itch for the white haired prince that needs to be scratched xD Love you~ *rolls away*
Hoo boy! I’m so sorry that I let my requests get away from me but I’m back to start some serious writing! Aww, I love you too! Anyway, here’s your white haired prince!
Ravus groaned, feeling an oncoming headache approaching from your persistent pleading. You had been going at it for the past 20 minutes now and it didn’t look like you were going to let up anytime soon.
Why would you? After all, it was finally Ravus’ day off from his duties and you intended to soak up every minute you could with him. But your idea of fun was not exactly his idea of fun.
“Ravus, please? Going to the beach will be so much fun! The fresh air, the smell of the ocean, the white sand underneath our feet. Doesn’t that sound romantic?” you sighed dreamily, cupping your hands together over your chest.
“They’re far too crowded, the water stinks of fish and the sand is too hot to even stand on barefoot.”
“C’mon, Ravus! This is the first time in a long while that we’re able to spend all day together and I don’t want to spend it at home for once,” you grumbled, glaring halfheartedly at the white haired prince, “Tell you what. If after an hour you’re still not enjoying yourself, we can come home. Just please indulge me this one time.”
Oh no…not the eyes.
A weapon perfected by his sister when she wanted to play and Ravus was too busy with his own devices. A weapon that was passed down to you by his sister (the traitor) when you were first introduced to her. A weapon he has never been able to combat.
Dammit.
Snapping his book shut a little harder than he meant too, Ravus sighed deeply through his nose, “Fine, one hour, and if I’m not having the grandest time of my life then we are coming home.”
The resounding squeal you let out followed by the excited hug you gave him while profusely thanking him, did soften him up to the idea just a little. Giving you a kiss on your forehead, he ushered you to go pack up for the trip.
If only he had reminded you to pack the sunscreen.

Summary: Basically just a fluffy promptis fic about Prompto rolling balls at a rave with his good friends. (Buckle up ‘cause part 2 is NSFW.)
Read part 2 here.
“I… I think it’s starting to kick in, “Prompto said, watching as his ungloved fingers glided softly over the hair on his left forearm, bright green lazers darting sporadically across his skin.
Among the colorful strobe lights dashing across the floor were girls dancing in neon fishnets and fuzzy legwarmers. Dotted around the room were groups of people crowded around others flinging glow sticks and bright balls of light. The bass shook the ground as the massive crowd of people jumped in or out of time with the beat. In the center of the floor was a man dressed in a banana suit preforming a rather impressive shuffle. Noctis and Gladiolus were laughing at the antics of the banana man when they overheard Prompto’s comment.
“How’s it feel? “Gladio responded with a smirk, briefly glancing in Noctis’ direction.
Prompto was quiet for a moment as he continued to run his fingers over his arm, swallowing as he did so and parting his lips to exhale. Earlier Prompto had decided he wanted to heighten his experience at the rave they had decided to visit in one the deeper parts of Lestallum. He had heard that molly or MDMA was popular in the scene, and did enough of his own research and consulting with locals to decide he wanted to give it a try. Noctis decided against trying it, wary of what Ignis would say about risking his reputation with hard drug use and Gladio wanted to keep a steady head in case he met any girls worth getting to know better. Ignis had decided to rest back at the hotel, considering showing up later only if he was needed.
“It feels, “he paused as the lights on stage began to pulse in a uniform strobe before shooting around the room like rapid gunfire.
“I want to dance! “Prompto exclaimed.
Before they could fully react Prompto grabbed Noctis’ arm and began pulling him towards the center of the room.
“Come on, Noct. Come dance with me! Please?” Prompto continued to tug on his arm. Noctis smiled uncomfortably as he let his initial reluctance drop, allowing Prompto to take both his hands and pull him into a small space in the middle of a crowd of dancing individuals.
Noctis was incredibly stiff at first, feeling completely out of his element surrounded by so many colorful people with lowered inhibitions and an endless supply of energy. Eventually Prompto managed to get Noctis moving, if only slightly. Mostly since Prompto constantly grasped Noctis’ hands and all but forced him to bounce around with him. The DJ put one of their hands in the air and the crowd seemed to fall in sync, attentively keeping rhythm with the DJ. Prompto raised an arm high up over his head as he turned towards the stage, facing away from Noctis yet still holding one of his hands from behind as he jumped up and down, only mildly avoiding any elbows to the face. Noctis couldn’t help but smile to himself at the excitement of his friend as he stood there behind him, his arm bobbing up and down with Prompto’s hop. The lights shining into Prompto’s livened eyes made them look like glowing pools of electric lavender and the star painted on the side of his cheek with glow-in-the-dark paint by a girl as they entered the building complemented the contagiousness of his boyish energy.
The crowd seemed to press in on them as people slowly gravitated closer to the stage. The space that Prompto and Noctis had been standing in began to shrink until Noctis was pressed up against Prompto’s back with one hand on his shoulder, chuckling at the craziness that was unfolding. Prompto continued to hold Noctis’ hand, only he brought it around his waist to avoid it being crushed between them. The pressure of Noctis’ body being pressed up close against Prompto was extraordinarily comforting to him and caused him to smile brightly as he pulled Noctis’ arm further around his waist, bringing him in even closer. Noctis’ reluctance to continue hopping weighed Prompto down so that he no longer was either, but the crowd that pressed into them caused enough movement for the both of them. Prompto began bobbing his head with the beat.
As the music reached a crescendo lights flashed in disorienting strokes and the energy of the room ascended. The bass dropped and the crowd began to bounce overwhelmingly around them, crushing them on all sides. They had to keep their necks ducked low to avoid being hit with elbows and glow-stick-holding fists. The strobing lights fell in sync with both the pounding music and Noctis’ breath on the back of Prompto’s neck, which began to hold all of his attention.
He stared into the patterns the lazers mapped out as they traced paths across the ceiling forming a multitude of different pixelated shapes. He shuddered as someone stumbled into Noctis’ back, forcing a sharp exhale to whisk Prompto’s hair past his ear. He felt the bass keeping time with the pulse in his own body and he felt glittering goosebumps spider down to his toes as Noctis squeezed his shoulder twice and yelled into his ear to be heard over the music. His lips grazed against Prompto’s ear with each syllable causing chills to continue cascading down his frame before fizzling out like sputtering streams of fireworks. Prompto’s only response was to squeeze tighter onto Noctis’ hand that he still held stiffly against his waist. Noctis yelled louder when Prompto just stood there staring blankly into the lights above the stage, one finger hanging off his bottom lip.
Upon seeing Prompto in that mystified state Noctis decided to turn him around by his waist and shoulder so he could start to attempt leading the way out of the crowd. There really wasn’t any way other than forcibly shoving bodies directly out of their path. There were a few times Noctis feared he would lose Prompto and had to use both hands as a wall of people began to close in between them, just barely pulling Prompto through by one arm in time for it to shut them out. When Noctis finally pushed both of their ways through he took his time to gravitate towards the same wall as before, holding Prompto’s hand the whole way as his friend continued to follow, eyes still stuck on the lazers dancing sporadically across every surface. Noctis’ shirt stuck tight to his torso and Prompto’s hair began to droop into the glowing star on his cheek, as the boys were drenched in both their sweat and that of others.
“You good?” Noctis asked after stopping and leaning in closer to Prompto.
Prompto’s eyes darted to Noctis and Noct noticed how much his friend’s eyes had dilated. Prompto had been chewing on his lip when Noctis spoke. His face lit up as he said, “Yeah, that was sooo much fun! This is crazy,” he said, sounding a little out of breath.
Prompto nimbly lifted one of the straps on the front of Noctis’ pants, causing Noctis to unexpectedly flinch his lower body backwards. Prompto rubbed the fabric between his fingers with a look of animated wonderment. Heat lightly gathered towards the center of Noctis’ confused face as he stared down at his pants and back up at Prompto.
“Everything feels amazing, “Prompto exclaimed as he continued to play with the strap of fabric.
Suddenly, before Noctis could think of a response, Prompto clamped onto one of his arms with all of his weight, nearly forcing them both face-first into the ground. Prompto had spotted Gladio from afar and he was compelled to act out his excitement by waving and announcing eagerly that he saw Gladio and wanted to go say ‘hi’.
When they approached Gladio he had his shirt tied around his belt. The beams of light generated a glistening sheen to the scars on his chest. He was talking to a girl with a hula hoop in a bright neon pink tutu and glow-in-the-dark lipstick. Prompto rushed up to Gladio and patted him on the back.
“Hey Gladio, how’s it going big guy? Wait a minute… Holy crap dude, your hair, “Prompto held a lock of Gladio’s hair between two fingers as he leaned into him.
“My, hair?” Gladio responded gruffly.
“It’s so, “Prompto paused as he continued to paw at Gladio’s hair, causing him to stiffen awkwardly as he stared down at Prompto with a raised eyebrow, “It’s so soft! You’re like a kitten!”
“He’s joking, right?” Gladio retorted, looking over at Noct bewildered. Unsure if he should give Prompto a piece of his mind or continue to let him act ridiculous.
The girl giggled, lightly grabbing Prompto’s shoulder to turn him towards her. She smiled and wrapped her finger in the lock of Prompto’s blonde hair that hung over his eye, twirling it around. She recognized Prompto’s dazed state and watched as he rested his eyes shut and almost seemed to purr as he pushed his head forward while her fingers began to play lightly with his hair and massage into his scalp. His eyes opened slowly, as if awakening from a dream, as she stepped back and began to swing her hula hoop back and forth.
The hoop itself had blinking lights that created a solid beam of neon as it swung around in circles that overlapped and spiraled up and over the girl’s head. Prompto stood motionless, almost as if he were in a trance. He remained lost in the rainbow of neon arches for what could have been hours in his own mind. The spiraling circles snaked about from left to right, leaving tracers of light trailing behind in a dizzying effect. For the longest time all that seemed to exist were those whirling bands and trippy spirals. A strange feeling of lightheaded uneasiness washed over him, building like the tide crashing further in to the beach. He felt somewhat disconnected from his body as he tried to step back and look at his situation logically, his overstimulated brain failing him, too lost in the colors to move. The girl haulted the hoop after slowing it down to a pendulum and seemed to only mouth, “are you okay?” despite her yelling loudly over the noise. Noctis stepped away from his conversation with Gladio to rest a hand on Prompto’s back.
“Hey, you still alright?” Noctis asked. He could see the concerned detachment in Prompto’s eyes. The look seemed to fade away gently upon seeing his friend’s face and Noctis suggested they go outside for a bit. Prompto clinged onto one of Noct’s arms, not really wanting to let go for fear of what would happen if that feeling started to come over him again.
“Hey Gladio, we’re gonna step outside for some air, wanna come?” Noctis said, pulling Prompto along with him.
Gladio seemed torn to leave the girl with the glowing hula hoop, but decided he could find her again easily enough. The increasing heat settled in the room like a sticky fog, and Gladio had been all but desperate for some relief.
The breeze that rushed over them as they stepped out of the door was icy, feeling practically orgasmic on Prompto’s skin in his sensation-heightened state. He took in a deep breath of crisp, rejuvenating air and released an audibly shaky sigh. Gladio and Noctis both glanced back at him a bit strangely before continuing on and leading him to a less crowded section near the brick wall of the building. They were in a small fenced in area where people stood around or sat in huddles, talking and smoking cigarettes. Prompto slid down to the ground with his back up against a wall and brought his knees up to his chin, patting the spot next to him slowly as he stared up at Noct smiling. Noctis stifled a chuckle as he crouched down by his friend whose pupils were as big as saucers.
They had started to make conversation but Prompto was unable to stay registered for very long; he got distracted every time the wind blew a strand of Noctis’ hair. He reached out to touch a feathery strand on the back of the boy’s head and leaned in as he brushed the back of his hand over the styled ends. He spiked out the locks of black hair by running them between his fingers, too engrossed in the euphoric softness to mind the dampness of sweat. His interest growing, Prompto braced his other hand on Noctis’ arm, weighing him down and forcing him from a crouched position into one that involved plopping down beside Prompto. He tolerantly sat there hunched over with his elbows resting on his knees as he continued talking with Gladio.
After some time had passed Gladio decided to head back in to the girl with the glowing hula hoop, but not before having his fun teasing Prompto for acting so damn high. Most of what he said went over Prompto’s head though, to his disappointment. Before going back in Prompto had to be sure to give Gladio the biggest, most sincere hug he could muster, forcing Gladio to roll his eyes and shake his head in hopeless amusement.
When Gladio left it didn’t take long for Prompto’s hands to gravitate back to Noct’s hair. They began talking and soon Prompto was dishing out heartfelt compliments and placing his hands on Noct’s face to look into his eyes and tell him how wonderful of a person he is, making Noctis blush and try to laugh it off facetiously. Then he began cooing about how incredible both Gladio and Ignis were, causing Prompto to realize urgently that he wanted to see Ignis so bad and tell him how great of a friend he is right now. He started to take his phone out of his pocket to call Ignis when Noctis stopped him, telling him that Ignis probably wouldn’t appreciate that at this hour. The disappointment on Prompto’s face was brutal. Noctis pitied him, recognizing that he isn’t quite able to wrap his head around the level that Prompto was on right now.
“You can tell him in the morning, “Noctis said, slowly reaching an arm around the side of Prompto’s head.
Noctis gingerly brought Prompto’s head to a resting position on his shoulder. His fingers played softly with small strands of blonde hair that had been chilled by the icy breeze. Prompto forgot all about Ignis. An electric tingling sensation rained down over Prompto’s scalp and spine with every twirl and gentle tug of his hair. The touch was subtle and innocent, but in Prompto’s condition it felt heavenly and in a considerable way, a bit erotic. His heart began to pick up pace. He couldn’t help but close his eyes and sigh blissfully, unknowingly pressing in closer to Noctis and putting a hand on his knee which slid down into his lap. The thud from Prompto’s arm dropping caused Noct to tense up with an audible grunt.
Prompto nuzzled into Noctis further to the point where they were all but cuddling (okay, Prompto was definitely trying to cuddle). Suddenly Prompto stretched his neck out and buried his face into the crook of Noctis’ neck, his nose delicately rubbing the sensitive skin there. Prompto opened his eyes and a faint flush began to drown out the freckles on his face. Over the contours of Noctis’ jawline feathery black eyelashes rested in a forward gaze. They dusted the top of his cheeks as Noctis glanced down at his friend to see what was up. The overwhelmingly pleasant stimulation of his hair being played with mixed with seeing the conventional beauty of his closest friend filled Prompto with elation and a powerful urge to just be close, closer. He felt incredibly connected to Noctis in this moment, feeling as if they were sharing a million things at once as they sat wrapped up in each other silently. The urge rushed over Prompto like a collective whirlwind, leaving him without a second thought before he was just swept away. He placed a small kiss on the far corner of Noctis’ mouth, not pulling away completely afterwards. Noctis startled and backed away a bit to face Prompto, his cheeks instantly shifting from pink to a profoundly deep shade of red.
“Did you just, kiss, me?” he said, blinking in shocked uncertainty.
Notes: PFFT This is a pairing I never thought I’d be writing, but I saw this odd/hilarious/cool post about how to woo Leviathan. Like, this small idea took off in my head and the only way to get it out was to write it. (This is all @joioliviapolaroid‘s fault pfft, hope you don’t mind I wrote this.)
Summary: You’ve spent your life in love with the sea, and she just happened to like you enough not to kill you on sight the first time you met. 2969 words.
It started when you were young.
At the time, you were a child playing in the ocean. The waves pushed at your shins as you danced in the tide. The water was a soundless song, the tempo dictated by the moon’s cycle. Part of you wondered why the water followed it so closely, but the rest of you didn’t want to think, enjoying the water in the way only a child could. You saw beauty and peace where adults would look at the waves with fear.
Maybe that’s why you saw her.
Playing in the water had caused you to lose track of time. The sun was almost all the way down, and moon just beginning to rise. A rare twilight, where both moonlight and sunlight met on the beach. What pulled you out of your revelry was the sight of a woman in the water as you were. Only she wasn’t dancing. She stood still and looked to the horizon.
She was gorgeous, in a way you couldn’t quite name. Her skin was dark, the color of sharp rocks near the cliff, darkened by the water that was constantly sharpening their points. A rich black that could only come from the combination of earth and sea. Across her body were bright blue tattoos. So reflective was the ink, it was as if the waves depicted on her were taken right from the sea in the middle of a bright sunny day. Her face was warm and strong, and her eyes were hard. But not cold. Rather, they were deep. Dark and soothing. There was no other way to describe them. And her dress blended seamlessly with the sea foam at her ankles, flowing around her legs as if there was a gentle breeze.
And while she was so gorgeous, you were a child. So the only thing you fixated on was the bright red flower tucked behind her ear, held in place by her many braids. It didn’t take long for you to walk up to her, and while normally, the sight of another person to play with would have brought you running, something inside you told you to walk. To be on your best behavior. And upon reaching her, she turned to look at you, a subtle look of surprise on her face. With her eyebrows slightly raised, she knelt in the water to be on your level.
“Hi.” You said softly, shyly, which was out of character for you. “Why do you have that flower in your hair?”
She tilted her head slightly, and seemed to regard you with rarely used curiosity. When she spoke, it was the same song of the tides that met your ears.
“It was made for me, and so it is my favorite.”
And with that, she rose back to her feet, seemingly having sated her curiosity.
“Child, run back the way you came.” Without touching your shoulders, she guided you to turn around. “Go, and do not look back.”
With words so grave, you felt compelled to listen, and did as she wished. It wasn’t until you were back on the grass further up from the beach, your family’s home in sight, that you felt safe enough to turn around. You watched as she stepped out of the water, and walked along the beach. But then, while you were watching, she slowly faded out of sight. Where her hand had hovered above your shoulder, a mark of two lines appeared. Like her own tattoos, they depicted waves. Only, it looked like a birthmark rather than the blue of her own, and for years to come would be unnoticed by you.
That night, your mother told you to story of Leviathan, a feared beast, the anger of the ocean. Mother of the tides and spirit of the deep. Your mother also told you of how people used to worship her, pray to her, and she never listened. Taking loved ones and drowning them. The vicious waves and currents that could steal someone from the beach if they dared turn their back on her. Cruelly ending lives before they’d begun. People vanishing on the water never to be seen again. She was to be feared, reviled, but respected.
But that day, the woman had given you a gift. Now, when you looked at the tides, the song that was once silence had turned into symphonies of creation and destruction in equal measure.

When you were a teenager, you’d gone back to the beach many times, nearly daily, hoping to get a glimpse of the woman again. The threat of daemons rising from the sands nearby, and the long trek home in the dark, did not daunt you. You’d learned from the hunters how to evade, and were aided by the sand refusing to give under your feet when you ran. Of course danger was ever present, but there was no where you felt safer than the beach.
Now that you were older, you were sure that the woman you had seen that day had been the goddess of the sea herself. Only, you’d never seen her again after that night. But you held faith in your heart, and had nothing but kind thoughts for the goddess. In the water, before the sunset and after the moon rose, you would leave flowers on the edge of the waves. Red ones. Always red. The next morning when you’d come back, some of them would be returned to you, sitting on the sand as if the water had rejected them.
But the red hibiscus flowers were always gone.
Eventually, you’d stopped bringing all others, and even made a ritual out of talking to the waves about your day when you’d sent them. As long as you knew that someone was there, listening silently, it helped you when you were hurt, and made you happy when you weren’t. Occasionally, on certain days, you’d whisper old prayers that you’d learned from an old woman in town. Ones that still remembered the goddess before her rage, and offered her the respect and reverence that had been stripped from her when all that man spoke of was her anger.
They spoke of protection, and of a long-forgotten title.
Sometimes, you’d read from your journal that you kept of writing and drawings. Poems you’d written for her, made from the memory of a child who didn’t know she was supposed to be feared. And as you aged, you spoke of her beauty, never mentioning the danger she was known for. You wrote of the sea as a person, capable of anger and love. Some of them were ever written to the melody of the waves, becoming instead songs of the sea. Drawings of the memory of her tattoos, colored to match their brilliance. But you’d never been able to capture their exact color. Portraits of her eyes. The hem of her dress as it had blended into the foam. There were also drawings of ships and sailors preparing to leave the shores. Or the hibiscus flowers you grew and would pick just for the ocean.
And for the first time that day, you’d finished a journal.
As you thumbed through its contents while sitting on the sand, you realized you didn’t know what to do with it. Poems no one else had read, drawings never seen by anyone but you.
It felt right, when you cast it into the waves with the flower.
“It’s for you.” Was all you said that day, and then you turned and left to go back home.
~
As an adult, people were beginning to whisper about you. You’d grown unparalleled in beauty, unrivaled in kindness, and known for having a strange connection to the sea. There were many suitors that you’d rejected in your small seaside town, and all would meet unlucky fates at the hands of the waves. As if the sea itself was warning them away from trying again. And for the few that insisted on trying to force you into a relationship you didn’t want, it was rare they came back from their next trip on the sea.
Some began calling you Leviathan’s kindness. Her priestess. The woman who was given gifts from the waves. Whereas people knew that the goddess was anything but kind and would only hurt those who dared to try crossing her waters, you could heal with what she would use to hurt.
Women would come to you for multiple reasons. Some for love spells, to give a man’s heart a nudge, or to grant him the courage needed take the next step. Those spells were easy, but would take time. Others to escape. For a way out of their situation. To heal their bruises and their souls. Those were longer, but took effect almost instantly.
“Take this seashell, and when you see him next, crush it over your heart. And then you shall be free from the love you feel for him.” You told one woman, who’s eye you had helped heal with sea water when it had been swollen shut. You ensured that she wouldn’t be blind in that eye, and the rest of her bruises, after being massaged with a paste of hibiscus petals and sea foam, were gone by the next day.
You placed the seashell in a sachet of linen, easily hidden in the front pocket of the woman’s shirt, and handed it to her. “Then you must take a boat away from here, but have no destination in mind. Cast away your oars and lay down in the boat and sleep. She will take care of you if you trust her. When you arrive at safety, throw a bottle with words you feel are right back into the water.”
“Thank you,” The woman said, “Thank you so much.”
Others began to call you a sea witch.
“Where is she?!” The man raged, days after the woman’s visit, throwing the things in your home into disarray. Papers strew about in rage, books thrown carelessly on the floor, bottles of water upended, and seashells, the gifts the sea left for you, smashed to pieces. Outside, you could feel a storm building in your bones.
With the sea behind you outside the window, with its song ever present, you were brave.
“Gone. You’ll never hurt her again.”
Your eyes were as cold as the sea in winter, and he continued raging. The man wanted to get his way. He threw a piece of broken bottle at you, it’s jagged end catching your cheek. You allowed the blood to drip down your face and fall to the floor, where it mixed with the sea water he’d spilled. The cut was deep, but you didn’t care.
But she did.
The sound of a bellowing scream came from the sea, and the man paled.
“Witch!” He spat, before fleeing your home to run back to the town.
You’d never heard that sound from the sea before, and went outside to see what could have made it. But also, to show that you were unharmed. And the only thing you saw was the crashing of the waves on the sand.
~
That night, the song changed. Creation had never sounded so soft, nor destruction so soothing. Barefooted, you left your home and walked down to the beach, and then into the water to stand where you were when you were a child. This time it was fully night, but the moon was already setting. Yet, even with the difference, you could feel her there. You took a few steps further out into the sea, and waited. And when you felt that it was time, you turned around.
There she stood, ankle deep in the ocean, looking exactly as she did all those years ago. It was as if she had never left that spot. But this time she beckoned to you. The movement was like a siren’s call, and you couldn’t do anything else but follow.
Slow measured steps, following her at a respectable distance. You never took your eyes off her, a feeling warning you away from doing so. Not that you wanted to. The woman, goddess, you’d been talking to and offering prayers for years was in front of you. The same deity that granted you gifts and your connection to the sea. Why would you look away?
Upon stepping on the sand, it felt different, but you didn’t dare look down. It was as soft as powder, yet you knew if she willed it, it could shred your feet in seconds. It was the feeling of the sand, cool yet warm under your feet, that let you know this wasn’t the beach you had just been on. No, this was a place between the water and the sea sand of your home. A place only she could come.
And she’d brought you.
You followed her on this endless beach, the water behaving strangely to the right of you. Your connection to the water, to her, allowed you the knowledge of knowing not to touch the water again now that you’d left it. The song was wrong.
When the sun started rising, you could see a small cottage. The wood was weathered, like it had seen many sea storms and was rubbed smooth by the sand around it. She entered first, and given that she hadn’t told you to stop following, you went inside too.
Your eyes, even though you just came in from outside, didn’t need to adjust to the change in lighting. A strange sort of ease settled over you the moment you came through the door. It was like coming home. And all around the cottage, you could see the flowers you’d sent her. Eternally kept alive, some gathered in bushels, some strung up on the walls. But the best ones had their stems held in the pages of the journals she had collected over the years.
When you went to walk further into the cottage, strong arms wrapped around you from behind. Her skin was cool and thrummed with energy unending. You wanted nothing more than to turn around to see her face. But you held still. One of her hands drifted up to your face, turning your injured side toward her. You closed your eyes the moment she pressed a kiss to the cut, and suppressed a hiss of pain as it healed. The healing she did always felt like rubbing salt in the wound until it was finished.
After she finished, it was then that she reached down and held your hands in hers, trapping you in her embraces and your own. You leaned back, pressing your head against her shoulder, and finally allowed yourself to look up at her. She met your stare with her own, and you found something like love there. You knew that gods could not love like mortals do, but what was in her eyes rant as deep as the deepest part of her domain.
It was then that she interrupted your thoughts. Her hand resting against your cheek again, she leaned down and pressed a kiss to the corner of your mouth, teasing. But then she pressed her lips to your and let you turn around in her arms. Her hand then slid back to fist in your hair, pulling your head back to kiss at your neck, lingering on your pulse. It felt like the tide had swept you away and soon you lost yourself to her.
~
It was after, when you lay in a tangle of blankets at her side, with her eyes watching your every move, that you spoke.
“Why me?” You asked, your voice as small as the day you met. You were human, insignificant compared to the eternity of her life. And while you loved her, you knew it was not returned. A god couldn’t feel love as a human does after all.
She was silent for a moment, appearing to gather her thoughts while tracing your collar bones with feather light touches. But then her hand trailed over to your shoulder and slowly, she began to hold you so tightly, her nails began to leave indents in your skin.
“I think you were made for me, and so you are my favorite.” Was her answer, and a part of you felt uneasy at the thought of being a belonging of the goddess. But another part of you recalled her fondness of the Hibiscus flower, and how it has spanned centuries. Since the first moment, according to the story, that Titan created it and gifted it to her, in memory of a woman she had failed to protect, coloring the petals with the woman’s blood.
And so you smiled, and leaned forward to press another, this time chaste, kiss to her mouth which she gladly returned.
~
All the town’s people found on the beach, the night after you went missing, was your footsteps going into the tide. Some side that Leviathan had finally killed the last of her compassion, and now only her anger was left. But the women whispered of Leviathan calling you home. Of you having gone to her side as your reward for being so faithful to the sea.
Sometimes, people would see the image of you walking on the beach, hand in hand with a woman who’s features no one could quite make out. And it is said, to this very day, that if you were in trouble and needed to find safety, that you could walk the beach and a woman might appear before you, offering advice and magic to aid you. People, every year on the day you vanished, would set red hibiscus flowers onto the sea. Both for Leviathan, and the woman who remembered that the goddess, though thought of as cruel, was kind.
Love your writing! /( @ 3 @ )/ With the holidays coming up, I'm slowly dreading my family coming up. I mean we love each other but we can never seem to get along, with fighting, jealousy, and just an overall bad attitude. If I may ask, how do you think the Chocobros would help if their s/o was in a similar situation and went to their s/o's place for Christmas? What would they do to make this Christmas catastrophe a Christmas to remember? Thanks for all you do and keep up the great work!
Thank you sweet Nonnie! \(; w ; )\ I do hope your holidays go well and that this year your family gets along so that you all can enjoy each other’s company! *hugs* Hope this helps even just a little! These scenarios are long so they’ll be under a cut!
Noctis: With the holidays always being a pretty quiet affair at the Citadel, Noctis is quite surprised at how loud your family is. And unfortunately, it’s not loud in the best of ways. When you invited your boyfriend to spend the holidays with your family (after months of begging from him so that he could see what a big family was like during this time), you were quick to warn him that while your family loved each other, they had a hard time getting along for long periods of time, especially during Christmas.
He didn’t expect it to be this bad. True to your word, it only took minutes before fights were erupting between members of your family as tempers flared. Noctis noticed the way your shoulders tensed, embarrassment clear on your face. Gently taking your hand in his, he tugged you away from the scene and to the closet where your coats hung. Handing you yours, he slipped into his coat and lead you out into the front lawn. The snow crunched underneath your boots. When the door closed behind you two, you turned to your boyfriend, an apology already leaving your mouth.
“Hey, Y/N, let’s build a snowman.”
Your mouth snapped shut at Noct’s suggestion. You stared at him with wide eyes as the raven-haired prince scooped up some snow and started to form it into a ball. The kind, loving smile he sent your way filled you with warmth. It was one that he reserved for you to let you know it would be okay. That he was here for you and you weren’t alone. While your family fought inside, you and your prince made a small family of snowmen, laughing and just enjoying the Christmas season together.
Prompto: “Prom, babe, are you sure you want to spend Christmas at my aunt’s house? My family is not known for getting along and the holidays don’t make it any better.”
Prompto laughed heartily, pulling you against him to place a kiss on your forehead.
“Babe, don’t worry! I’m sure it’ll be fine. ‘Sides, the noise will be better than the silence that I’m used to,” he reassured you.
He kind of missed the silence. He stared wide-eyed as you tried to meditate a fight that broke out between a cousin and your mother. The way the two women were shouting at each other, inches away from your ears, was unlike anything he had ever witnessed.
And it broke his heart.
Your eyes were beginning to glisten with unshed tears as you struggled to keep your loved ones from ripping into each other. The shouting was almost deafening. You shouldn’t feel so mortified; after all, you knew this was going to happen. But the feelings of shame washed over you, knowing that your boyfriend was witnessing a shocking scene.
You hadn’t wanted this for him. You knew that Prompto didn’t have the best childhood growing up. Left alone most of time even during the holidays, you knew he was excited to spend it with you. When your mom had invited to spend Christmas with everyone, he jumped at the opportunity, not even noticing the way you tensed.
The fighting last the entire visit. The car ride home was silent save for the few sniffles that came from the passenger side. Prompto tightened his hold on the steering wheel. When the two of you entered your shared apartment, he right away dropped to a knee in front of you, taking your left hand into his.
He took in your appearance. You stood gaping at him, eyes puffy and red from crying. And even still, you looked like an angel that descended from Heaven. He knew that this was exactly what he wanted. He prayed that you would agree.
“Y/N, I had been waiting to do this until I had enough money for a ring but after tonight, I don’t want to wait anymore. I want you to know how serious I am about this. You mean the absolute world to me and watching you tonight just proved to me that you’re exactly the person I want forever in my life. Y/N…will you marry me?”
Gladio: Pissed couldn’t even begin to describe how Gladio was feeling at this moment.
He had watched you for the last three days flitting around your shared home, trying to make sure that everything was ready in preparation of your family’s arrival. He knew you were incredibly stressed and nervous about, not only, hosting for the first time but also, how your family would behave.
When you two first started dating, you told him countless stories of your family; the good and the bad. But the Christmas stories, or rather, the holidays in general, were censored. You didn’t divulge much information and Gladio certainly wasn’t going to push you.
It wasn’t until the second year of your relationship that you finally told him everything. The fights, the arguments, the screaming and accusations. The drunken rages. The tears. Christmas was not a happy time for you. Your parents tried to make it a happy affair but they would soon, too, fall into the pattern of fighting. Your family just didn’t get along.
When your mother asked if you’d be willing to host Christmas dinner, you caved pretty quickly to her request. After all, you had Gladio and many of your family members had yet to meet him. Plus, your place was much bigger thanks to the wealth of the Amicitia family.
And that was all it took for a few members of your family to start the arguments.
“How nice it must be to not have to worry about anything but lounging around and blowing money all day.’
You froze, smile faltering. Gladio was just as stunned to hear something so cruel slip out of your family member’s mouth. Did they not know how hard you worked at the Citadel everyday? Did they not realize that Gladio had to beg for you to move in with him into this home? Did they not know how you refused for the longest time, afraid that someone would make the assumption that you were just using Gladio for his money?
“Hey, don’t you talk to Y/N that way, you dirt-bag! I don’t care that it’s Christmas, this is our home and you WILL respect her or get the fuck out!” Gladio snarled, towering over the family member who dared utter such words to you.
The room grew silent as everyone turned to look at Gladio. He glowered at everyone.
“The same goes for the lot of you. If you can’t keep your mouth shut, I’ll gladly shut it for you.”
Turning to you, Gladio’s expression softened. He strode over to you and leaned down to place a kiss on your forehead.
“Is that the pumpkin pie, babe? Looks great. I can’t wait to eat!”
For the first time in your life, Christmas was a quiet affair for the rest of the night.
Ignis: Ignis wondered for the hundredth time that night how someone as lovely as you came from a family that seemed so hideously cruel. The senseless remarks that flew from each other’s mouths both stunned and sickened him.
Your hold on his hand tightened as you watched. The fights and snide remarks had been ongoing all day. From the time you had arrived, in fact.
You hadn’t wanted Ignis to see this. You so very much wanted to just celebrate Christmas with just the two of you or even with the other boys. But then you received a message from your parents that your grandmother was dropping by and wanted to gather the family over.
You dreaded the thought but didn’t have it in you to say no. When your mother told you to invite Ignis, you jumped at the request. It wasn’t ideal but at least with him there the night would be somewhat manageable.
Ignis knew about your family’s volatile history and how Christmas day ended with the cops being called due to the many fights that broke out and the screaming matches that seemed to last for hours. He knew how badly you didn’t want to go. He gently cupped your face between his hands when you invited him. You seemed to relax in the hold, nuzzling your cheek against his palm.
“Kitten, we don’t have to go if you truly don’t want to,” Ignis said.
“I know…but I already promised my grandma that I’d be there. She’s been wanting to meet you as well,” you replied, taking a deep breath. “We’ll only stay for a few hours.”
Six above, you wish you were back home. It was embarrassing to watch your family behave like they were in high school again. You had prayed all night that your family would behave for a while. Just while you were there with Ignis. But that had been too much to ask.
Ignis’ jaw clenched when another crude remark was thrown. He had had enough. You didn’t deserve to spend Christmas like this. Keeping his hold on you, he briskly escorted you towards your mother, telling her that while you two had a lovely evening, he wanted to spend the rest of the night with you…alone.
He didn’t give her a chance to respond before he was pulling you towards the coat rack where your jackets hung. Helping you into yours, he thrrew on his coat and led you outside and to the car. Ignis unlocked the car and, once he saw that you were buckled up, he started the car and drove away from the fighting household.
You had been silent the entire time, too surprised at the sudden departure. Before you could ask him if he was okay, he spoke.
“I am taking you home. I am going to cook us up a wonderful dinner along with your favorite dessert. Then we are going to watch your favorite Christmas movies before opening our presents. And from now on, we’ll spend the holidays with those who appreciate and love you. You deserve a happy Christmas, Y/N, and I intend to make sure you have them for the rest of our lives.”
Cor: Like Gladio, he feels immensely guilty. Being the Marshal over the Crownsguard as well as tending to his king, Cor simply doesn’t notice the stress that takes its toll on you from constantly faking happiness. He’s actually glad that you seem to be so well off while he’s busy. After finding out the truth one night when he came home to you sobbing on the living room floor, Cor was admittedly upset. A part of him is upset at you for not telling him about your mental health but scolding you right now won’t solve anything. He’ll sit on the floor next to you and wrap an arm around your shoulders to hold you close and allow you to finish crying. When you’re done, you two will talk. He doesn’t care how long it takes you, Cor wants you to tell him everything. That night, he’ll join you in the shower and clean you up. He’ll order late night take-out and put on a silly movie for the two of you enjoy. When you end up falling asleep in his arms on the couch, Cor will say a silent prayer for pleasant dreams for you. His last thought is a silent vow: You will never go through this alone ever again.
Nyx: This will be the one time that you’ll see the self-proclaimed “Hero” panic. He’s not exactly a stranger to mental illness; a number of Glaives suffer from PTSD. He just didn’t expect you to suffer from social anxiety. You’re practically a social butterfly! Nyx, focus! It takes him a minute to snap out of his shock when you tell him about it. He’s quick to wrap you up in a hug, murmuring in your hair apologies. Nyx will spend the next few hours asking you questions about your condition and what he can do to help. After all, he’ll say with a cheeky smile, he’s a hero.
Ardyn: Wait..how did you rope in someone like Ardyn? He’s the usurper, the accursed! Well, believe it or not, Ardyn understands all about social anxiety. He remembers how he used to be in the past when he was human. Don’t expect a lot of sympathy and coddling from him, though. The most Ardyn is willing to give you is a brief hug and maybe a gruff word of encouragement. But don’t let that fool you too much. You might catch the bad touch chancellor watching over you in the following days.
Feeling down tonight. My muse wants the husband to cheer her up.

It was a hellish day. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Your alarm hadn’t gone off at the correct time due to a storm last night which caused your boss to yell at you when you arrived ten minutes late. While at work, you tried to fly through your paperwork and ended up knocking over your soda all over said paperwork which caused your boss to yell at you...again. You had to stay over for an hour just to finish them.
By the end of the day, you were tired and irritated and just wanted to go home and curl up on the sofa with a big bundle of junk food and watch some bad movies. It didn’t help your mood when you remembered that your boyfriend wouldn’t be there as he had a prior engagement with the prince and his boyfriend. Sighing, you pulled out your apartment key and unlocked the door, ready to end this horrible day.
The familiar scent of beef stew hit your nose as soon as you walked in. Confused, you entered your home further, closing the door with your foot. Upon entering the kitchen, you were greeted by the sight of your boyfriend, Ignis, stirring a pot on the stove. Hearing footsteps, the bespectacled man turned his head to look over his shoulder.
“Ah, darling, you’re home! Dinner will be done here shortly,” Ignis said, a warm smile gracing his lips.
“I-Iggy, what are you doing here? I thought you were meeting with the prince after work.”
“Yes, well,” Ignis started, blushing a little, “It seems that our prince had other plans made and I was, more or less, pushed out of his apartment.”
You couldn’t stop the small chuckle that escaped you. Dropping your bag on the table, you made your way over to him and wrapped your arms around his middle, nuzzling your face into his back. Ignis set the lid back on the pot and gently untangled himself for you hold before pulling you into a better one.
All the tension seemed to melt out of your body leaving you feeling secured and loved. No matter how bad the beginning of your day was, it looked like it was going to end better.
“Uh, Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
Ignis cleared his throat, sounding mildly embarrassed and...amused? “Were you aware that your skirt was tucked into your tights?”
