Morning classes on Wednesdays were quite… alright. You could say that but afternoon classes… oh god. Whoever came up with the most boring classes one after another is not IT. You and Noct have to each get a cup of coffee or else you would not survive the afternoon classes.

Even if you had your dose of coffee, you still felt tired and sleepy. Noct on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be that awake either… You’d write little notes to each other in the corner of your notebooks, the only thing keeping you awake and entertained.

The games on your tablet are not helping much either. So you both settled on doodling and writing this and that in each other’s notebook, that later on leads to lingering touches whenever your hands touch. Lingering touches turned into something more affectionate and then a little battle with your hands.

In Case You’d Like To Request Something

“I think we just broke a record for most crappy rom-coms watched in a day.” Is the first thing Noctis murmurs as the movie’s credits roll down the screen. You frown at him and shake your head.

“I think you don’t know a good love story when you see one, Noct.” Comes your quick response from over the abundance of cushions you’ve gathered around yourself. Noctis barely gives any acknowledgement of your reply before getting up to wander over to the television and remove the disk from the DVD player. He spares a second to cast a dejected look at the seemingly ginormous pile of romantic movies that you’d coerced him into watching with you while you’re feeling a little bit under the weather, you’re honestly quite thankful for how he’d said yes despite the fact that you were both fairly convinced he wouldn’t like them (which he didn’t).

When he finally pipes up again, you’re somewhat caught off guard. “No, no. I think I know.” It’s at this point that he moves back towards the sofa, taking a seat and directing his gaze down to the denim jeans that he wears. “It’s got to be cliched right?”

Honestly, you weren’t expecting some kind of debate to stem from your throwaway response to his previous words. “Well… I suppose so.” A measured pause. “Why are you—”

“So how about this?” He cuts you off, voice soft and strangely jittery as you peer over at him from across the sofa. “Best friends? That’s lame enough to work… Yeah, best friends. They’d have known each other for a long, long time, I think.” He stops speaking for a second, as if he’s collecting his thoughts. “And then something would happen like one of them would stupidly develop stupid feelings for the other person, and it’s like their whole world is crashing down because that’s their friend—their best friend. They shouldn’t be forming any romantic attachments, right?”

“This seems weirdly personal.” Is all you can say when he finally looks at you, as if waiting for your input and opinion on the matter. But you don’t know what to think; this hasn’t happened before. Not in the eight years you’ve known each other. “What would happen next?” You can’t help the words from slipping into the air, hating yourself for the fact that you’ve become invested in whatever Noctis is talking about. You’re always attentive and alert whenever he’s around. Always listening. Always looking a tad starstruck by his very presence despite the amount of time you’ve spent by each other’s sides.

(in other words, you’re in too deep with Noctis Lucis Caelum, and you have been for a long while now)

Noctis stares at you for a further thirty seconds before sighing and looking away once more. “Well, the one with the feelings—the stupid romantic ones I mentioned before—they wouldn’t accept this idea of… of liking their best friend, and would insist on pushing away every single swell of affection that may pop up. Until one day, they’d end up realising that their way of solving this ‘problem’ isn’t good because it isn’t working…” The fire in his words dampens as he trails off, he seems almost hesitant to continue, as if a sudden burst of confidence has petered out and now he’s left with the soaked remains of a previously passionate speech. “I—” He cuts himself off, awkwardness cutting into his tone like a jagged knife. “I need to go…”

“Wait—what? Noct, what was that all about?” You scramble to peel off your blankets and numerous cushions as he restlessly makes his way towards the door of your apartment.

“It was nothing.” He sounds mildly agitated, stopping in his tracks as you move to stand in front of him. “Just—just forget it happened, Y/N… That’s all.” And with that, he exits the room, tugging on his coat as he goes. You’re left by the kitchen, confusion stumbling through your brain as you ask yourself what could that have possibly been about?

Tumultuous thoughts continue to plague your head for the rest of the day, until darkness is pressed against the windows in icy tendril upon icy tendril of dread. Noctis’ words have created a constant sense of convolution that applies pressure to your temples at least once every thirty seconds, that and the fact that you’re unsure of whether or not he’d gotten home okay. With a heavy sigh you pull out your phone, cursing yourself for not calling earlier all the while. You dial his number and wait for him to pick up.

“Hello?”

“Noctis.”

“Oh, it’s you—”

“Please tell me why you had to leave all of a sudden? It’s not like you to just get up and go, is it? Did I do something? Was it the thing you said? Was it—” The words fall dead upon your tongue as a sudden realisation pulses through your head. “You were trying to tell me something weren’t you?” This in itself is a rather strange notion, as while you and Noctis are certainly close, he’s never confided in you about anything to do with romance. Never. “Do you like someone?”

Noctis neglects the notion to reply. In fact, the only way you can tell that he’s still there is by the shallowness of his breath.

“Come on, who is it?” You murmur after a solid twenty seconds of silence. “You know you can trust me with this important information, right? I’m basically a safe.” You speak with assurance in your tone, “Noct?”

He speaks with rigidity, as if the syllables are stiff and difficult to dislodge from his throat. “If I told you it would be a bit… counterproductive,” A measured pause follows. “Even if you’re a so-called safe.” There’s the smallest spike of amusement in his voice at this.

“I don’t understand…”

“Think about it, Y/N.” He falls silent now, and you wrack your brain. Who could he be talking about—

“Oh.” Disbelief meanders through your veins, a sudden swirl of shock forced into your system. “Wait a second, Noct… is it me?”

“This is a good love story, right?” He asks, referring back to the statement that had started it all. Vulnerability is heavy in his words, though, as if he hasn’t caught on to the fact that you’re entirely head over heels for him.

“The best—a bit cliched however.”

Relief is evident on Noctis’ end of the line from the sigh that falls from his lips. “But with those films you made me watch, I sort of gathered that cliches made for the best rom-coms?” And with a sudden accusatory slant to his tone, “You said before that it was supposed to be cliched, too!”

You choose to ignore the final comment and, biting back the smile that teases the corners of your lips, open your mouth to respond. “Sometimes, I suppose… In this case? Definitely.” The conversation dies down for a little while now, and you find yourself involuntarily piping up for a final time. “Do you want to come over? I know it’s getting sort of late but I don’t mind if you want to sleep here.”

“Sure, okay.” He says. “I’ll be there in a little while.”

Small fluff for Noctis :D

Prologue: Your family has had close ties with the Lucian line since you were born. You father has worked directly with King Regis in keeping Insomnia safe and like Clarus Amicitia, is considered to be a close friend along with being his protector. You and Noctis have been long childhood friends.

Time Setting: Third year, High school

It was late, around 2 in the morning, but you just couldn’t go to sleep. You rolled around on your bed letting out a small groan. Mid-semester testing was coming up and your father had put a lot of pressure on you to do well. Along with the fact that you had been helping Noctis study as well.

“Ughhhh” you groaned as you climbed off your bed before walking towards the window. Looking up at the night sky you saw the stars glowing against the pale moonlight. Closing your eyes you wished how you go outside and breathe in the brisk, night air. Anything really to ease the stiff feeling you had inside you from cramming all week. A distraction to chase away this feeling of stress inside you.

An idea began to form in your mind. You really shouldn’t. Your father would be furious if you got caught but… you couldn’t resist.

Grabbing your jacket from the closet you quickly put it on. Quietly as possible, you creeped your way out of your bedroom and went downstairs. The house was dark, but with every step  the wooden floors creaked beneath you. You silently moved over to the living room window to unlock it, fearing that if you used the front door the sound would wake your father. 

Standing there for a moment you contemplated turning back, but chose to still move forward with your plan. You thought you heard a sound coming from the room down the hall, but it was nothing. Pushing the glass then the screen aside, while just leaving enough open for your return you slid out onto the soft grass. You stood once more in silence awaiting to hear angry footsteps come rushing towards you, but nothing.   

Taking a deep breath you double checked the window to make sure it didn’t look obvious that you had left. Adrenaline now rushing through your veins at the thought of you being such a “bad ass” for sneaking out. You felt excited, nervous and joyous all at once. Muffling a small giggle in your sleeve you started walking down the sidewalk. The streets were empty and dark, but the street lights illuminated the fresh wet pavement beautifully.   

That feeling of bliss changed though after a few minutes of walking, when you saw another person coming towards you. You stopped in your tracks and stared, surprised to see someone out so late. The stranger didn’t seem as if they were in a rush as they staggered down the sidewalk, getting closer to you. They were oblivious of your presence, as they were looking up at the stars.

You didn’t move, you were frozen in place as they moved closer to you. It was only when they were just a couple of feet from you that you noticed a familiar brown billed baseball cap. A hat that your best friend would often wear out in public, as to not be noticed by anyone. It was Noctis! 

Why is he out so late? You thought, still staring at him wanting to verify that it actually was him. Just a few inches from you he finally looked down. Then proceeded to make a small leap in the air while letting out a high pitched screech of surprise.

Despite you watching him this whole time, you too jumped. Taking a step back.

“S-Sorry”. He stuttered as he looked down at the ground, his cheeks blushing slightly in embarrassment. 

“I didn’t see you there, my bad”. His hand reaching to readjust his hat that had moved askew.

You blushed a little too, hoping he wouldn’t realize that you had been watching him. “It’s okay Noct.”

You smiled as he lifted his head to look at you.

“(Y/name)! Hey what are you doing out?” His eyes slightly twinkling in the night.

“Me? What about you? Don’t you usually have to have a bunch of armed guards around if you leave your apartment?” You said teasing while giving him a devious smirk.

Noctis wraps his arm loosely your shoulders engaging you to walk with him. 

“Not if I have you around my warrior princess!”

God’s he so corny. You thought as let a small chuckle at the image of you in warrior attire, gladiator sandals and all. He was so warm for it being so cold out. You wanted to move closer to him but didn’t want to make things awkward.

“You’re so cold (Y/name), don’t you know anything about sneaking out?” He said as he pulled you closer to his side.

“I guess not”, you said pouting.

“Always bring gloves”. Noctis then pulls his blue and black stripped gloves from his left pocket. A goofy smile is on his face as he hands them over to you.

You smiled as you take them from him, you touch his fingers in the exchange, his hands were so warm. 

Walking now together, his arm around you, he ask once more.  

“So… what are you doing out here anyways?”

“Just… you know walking. I just really wanted to be outside”. You said slightly blushing not wanting to admit that you snuck out.

Noctis then let out a small huff, “Yeah me too. There’s something about the night that makes me more relaxed. I guess it’s because I don’t have think so much about, well everything.

You raised your eyebrows at him, surprised that he was even telling you this. You and Noctis were close, but he rarely ever confessed things like this to you.

You bit your bottom lip, seeing how sincere he was in his confession. Sometimes you forgot that Noctis was more than just your friend, he was the prince and that came with a lot of responsibilities.

The two of you slowly walked down the sidewalk. Noctis moved his hand back behind his head as he looked up at the night sky.

“This is my favorite part.”

“What is?” you asked.

Noctis points upwards, “The stars”.

You looked up as well, feeling a little confused. “You can always see them from your window,” you teased.

He shakes his head a little, showing a half-smile. “Yeah, but it’s not the same. You barely see them. There is just something about being outside during the night that makes seeing them that much clearer.

You smiled as his words began to repeat in your head, suddenly a bright light shot across the sky. A shooting star! You both stopped walking to look up together at the sky.

“The Meteor Shower, wow I bet you can see this really well in Duscae”, he told you. 

“Make a wish”.

You tried to hold back your laughter but you couldn’t.

“No way, that never works, or at least it’s never worked for me”.

“You shouldn’t say that”, he said quietly. You looked at him curiously because the tone in his voice seemed somewhat disheartened. He was still looking up at the  sky, but you could feel his fingers begin to brush against your hand. Before curling his fingers loosely around yours.

“Because (y/name), sometimes they come true”. Finally he looked down at you with a shy smile. “Is this okay?”

You stood in shock just staring at his hand intertwined with yours, but you eventually have a shy returning smile. A childish grin began formed on his face as he turned to face you.

“Told ya”, he stated. “Wishes do come true”. Tightening his hand slightly around yours he starts to take the lead. “Let me walk you home now though, your hands are like ice”.

You giggled and acknowledged with a nod, because honestly you were really cold. As you both started walking again, holding hands. When you were close to your home, you stopped to say goodbye and part ways for the night.

“So when can we do this again Noct?”

Just then, another shooting star flew across the sky and you both looked up to catch a glimpse of it.

Noctis’s face lit up as he gave you a smile. “Oh, so you are encouraging me to sneak out huh?”

“Yes” you said quickly, attempting to give your best puppy dog eyes.

“The meteor shower peaks in a few days, I guess it would be nice seeing it with you”, he shrugged.  

You laughed, moving slightly closer to him as you nodded your head. “All right”.

He gave you a soft push against your arm, “I’ll even bring an extra pair of gloves for you. Since I have a feeling you’re going to forget them again.” 

You push him back in response, making him laugh.

“Well, goodnight I’ll see you at school tomorrow.” You said as you turned towards your house.

Noctis’s hand stopped you, tugging slightly on your sleeve. You looked at his hand, then up to his eyes. Eyes you never thought Noctis would give you, eyes that were passionate and tender. You walked towards him as you felt his hand begin to move to your lower back to pull you in closer to him.

Closing your eyes you’re rested your body against his as he kissed you. His kiss was gentle, gentler than you thought he would be. After some time you both leaned back to catch your breath.

“Goodnight (y/name).” He said and he backed away slowly from you.

You turned around once more as you gave him a farewell wave.  

Relieved to see that the screen was ajar just enough for you to go back inside you quickly maneuvered your way back into your home. Closing the latch, making sure no one would notice you had left. Halfway up the stairs your phone began to ring. Fearing you father would hear it you tried to muffle it in your jacket as you quietly sprinted to your room. Once inside you closed your door behind you and quickly put the phone to silent as it sill rang. Waiting by the door you listened to hear if you woke the house, but you were in the clear. Pulling out your phone you looked at the screen seeing you now have  a missed call but a text message from Noctis.

“Did you make it inside okay?”

You let out a small huff as you walked towards you bed to lay down. “Kind of”.

“What? You got caught?”

“Not yet. I think I might of pulled a muscle while attempting to run back into my room though”.

“Wow. You’re such a nerd”.

Mouth agape you had to hold in your laughter. “Shut Up!”

“Haha, its okay. At least you’re my nerd.”

We’re currently studying about how a country’s fortune is made and where it comes from. You’re sitting in the front row on the right side with Noct as he’s focusing intently on what the teacher is saying. He has to learn as much as he can because he’s going to be a king very soon.

You’re just sitting beside him taking notes and doodling on your book because the teacher is talking too much, and it bores you. As you place your cheek against your forearm, doodling on your book, you feel Noctis’ hand slide in yours. He gave a gentle squeeze on your hand which made you squeeze back and lifted your head to meet his gaze, that is already on you. He gave you a smile when your eyes were locked on each other.

With your hands still intertwined, Noctis brought your hands close to his lips then placed a gentle kiss on your knuckles. A small blush crept up to your face as you guys are still in class.

Hii it’s been a while! I came back with a new fic from Final Fantasy XV! this is my first time writing a fic for ffxv, I hope you all like it! 🤍

It’s back to school time and you found out that you and Noctis are not in the same class. He could ask to change but you didn’t let him because it would leave a bad impression of him at school for using his title. It took a little convincing for him to eventually agree with you. At least we have language class, economics and PE together. It’s nor that bad, we see each other during breaks and lunch time.

Right now, you’re in history class with the most boring teacher. Noct accompanied you in front of the class early, so you could have your moment with him without anyone disturbing you both. You’re also not keen on showing affection in front of others at the beginning of your relationship. You didn’t want to attract people’s attention on you both or getting jealous looks from those girls. Some would try to corner you at a secluded place and bully you. That almost happened if Noctis didn’t come to save you in time, you would be done for. This happened once and never happened again. Hurting the Crown Prince’s significant other is asking for a death wish.

So now, Noctis doesn’t give a crap about what others think about him simply showing affection to his significant other. They should understand that cause he didn’t and almost never used his title to tell someone off or at teachers.

During the whole history class, your mind has just been on Noctis and him alone. Your cramps and back pain were not helping as you were writing your thoughts on your notebook as the teacher talked. Your forearm was placed next to your cheek as you lean on it and write down your thoughts or doodling little flowers. while awaiting your next class with your beloved prince.

Noctis’ pov

In the most boring class again… this teacher is quite annoying, a little better than my girlfriend’s I think. I wonder how she is doing, I heard her back pain has been troubling her. I wish I could help ease her pain and hold her hand under our desk.

This teacher is so sassy and direct, and it’s pissing me off a little. I concentrate better with her here, the gentle rubs she gives when she wants my attention on her but I’m already looking at her. The way her hand fits perfectly with mine The way her eyebrows are knitted together when she’s focused. The way she lets me know that her attention is also on me when she’s focused during work. She always includes me in everything she does and it makes me feel like I’ve always been there with her and it makes me feel warm inside.
