A year ago- just days before the 1 year anniversary of its release- I picked up this game on an impulse because I was down, going through a rough time, and needed something to focus on. I figured it'd be a fun distraction and had no idea then what impact it would have on my life. In the year since, it's drawn me closer to my best friends and partner as we share our love for the fandom, our cosplay and rp experiences. It's made me new friends, both through cosplay and rp. It's pushed me to make art, to write, to connect, to create. And most importantly of all- in those months where I first began playing it, it made me feel like I wasn't alone- like I had friends at a time when I had isolated myself from the people I needed. Not only did it make me feel like the Chocobros were with me, but it made me reach back out to my own Chocobros- the people I love most. I don't know what it is about this game that takes such a hold on people's hearts. But I'm so glad I found it.
