Actually i think this character is just a waste of time, he has done nothing and he brings nothing to the table so any focus on him is useless.
Also everyfucking time thing seem to focus on nephtys and advance her arc the narriteve focus just shifts. I'm now getting convinced mojito just doesn't fucking want to write her arc (that implies a conversation and possible reconciliation with seth)
Also what i'm refering to is the last scenes with fg/zeus who i said already, is unecessary
I know part of my bias with Thoth is how he's depicted by Ohitsuji Ei in Saika no Kami wa Negawanai (where he's the secret main villain), and the manga and ENNEAD have paralleled each other before (with Anubis and Osiris' plots), but it is interesting to see more of Thoth for all intents and purposes being very manipulative and dubiously "supportive". He's been pressuring Horus a lot, like in S2E124. He's also been a bit sketchy since S1E20, when he was a bit vague about the curse on Horus. He and Maat are both distant, guarded gods who clearly have agenda but keep it close to their chest. Maat participated in the trial to help Isis a little, but also had her own reasons for managing things to the limited degree she did (S1E50). Despite her title as a god of truth and justice, her reach on that is limited (based on what happened with Seth), and how she chooses to work with that is mysterious (though I think Mojito is maybe showing through her that the concept of justice and truth changes from person to person and by perspective; one person's justice and truth may not be someone else's, as in the cases of Seth, Horus, Osiris, Isis, and Nephthys). I've wondered for a while if she and Thoth are trying to push Horus and Seth into making certain decisions and what that might be for, especially after Thoth mentions, "a forced shutdown and restart" and was notably smirky but silent about what that meant in S2E124. I don't know that ENNEAD!Thoth wants to destroy the present world to "correct the error" of his prophecy of the four siblings, maybe because, as a friend mentioned, he (and possibly Maat) dislikes how the newer generations of gods are becoming more human. Maybe he views what they're leading to as a threat to his own happiness with Maat (and maybe Maat views it this way as well). I do think it's fascinating he's pushing Horus so hard to ascend and forget everything.
The nicest look at this is that it's just some sort of test: if Horus is willing to sacrifice what he cares about most - his love of Seth - then he shows he's a god capable of making powerful sacrifices. And maybe this will ultimately enable him to keep his memories and/or become stronger or something. If Horus doesn't view it as a sacrifice (e.g., he learns he won't lose his memories once he ascends), then he either wouldn't ascend/wouldn't be as strong.
It is interesting that Thoth gave Horus his eye. Yes, as thanks, but Thoth is still trying to pressure Horus to ascend. Given Horus should have a new body or whatever, wouldn't not giving the eye be more pressure on Horus to ascend? Some of this is likely just based on myths, as Thoth is often the figure who helps heal Horus' eye(s) after Seth injures Horus, and the Eye of Horus, at least seemingly by the time of the New Kingdom, was associated with the moon. But in the sense that Thoth seems to be manipulating Horus... does the eye give Thoth some control over Horus, too? Again, there's a parallel here with Saika no Kami wa Negawanai: Thoth and Set become allies after Set travels back in time. And Thoth argues that because Set is resistant to magic, he needs certain preparation to deal with Apophis and save Osiris. Set agrees to this, which results in Thoth using magic on Set for a long amount of time. During the climax, Set absorbs Apophis, and Thoth uses the spells to attempt to kill Set so Thoth can do what he wants with Osiris. Again, I don't know that ENNEAD!Thoth is planning anything nefarious. Maybe the eye is just a gift, and it'll just augment Horus' powers somehow. Maybe, as Arianna theorized, it's how Horus keeps his memories of Seth. Maybe it's just to get in the good graces of the new king. There's a lot of reasons Thoth might be doing this.
It is generally sad though that Thoth is basically pressuring Horus to kill himself. Complete amnesia is basically death of personality, which is a sort of death. On top of Horus still wanting to be with Seth, this is just awful on top of everything. And Thoth is getting him while he's vulnerable.
The human servant being flustered is so sweet. I still hope he has a happy ending. And Horus petting the camel is cute.
I joked that Seth would break the boat after getting to Heliopolis and let FG sink, but I didn't really expect FG to stay on the boat lol It'll be interesting if this is FG leaving for good. I've joked for a long time that how we learn his identity is him getting on the boat to return home and someone saying the name in the distance, or some vague reference to his identity as he's leaving, so that this is maybe what happened is funny.
Yes, the "I'm going to be king of the gods" comment seems to be more evidence that FG is likely Zeus (though it might just be boasting), but I actually am more interested in how he calls Seth a colleague, which may just be "one god to another", but may also be "as one king to another", and Seth is surprised by this. He's been considered an evil god, an object of lust, a frustration, a weakling... But here's someone who recognizes him as a fellow king.
This is something he's wanted (in some form) ever since the night he confronted Osiris and Osiris planted doubt in his mind (S1E35): for people to recognize his strength. For proof that he's powerful and legitimate. And FG just says it. And Seth is surprised. I'm not sure if he's going to finally realize it's not what he wants - what Horus tried to convince him of during the third match when Seth was distracted by arrogance and pain (Seth: "If I were to lose my current post, what would that make me? Only the strongest can achieve what I want." - S1E58). He doesn't need to define himself by Osiris (or people similar to Osiris, FG). And maybe the person he cares about most, Horus, was always on his side (Horus: "Please stop this competition so that such tragedies do not repeat themselves" - S1E58). And he values more the people he can be with (e.g., Horus, Nephthys, Anubis) than the patriarchal constructs of power and authority.
FG's role in the story has frequently been to help Seth realize what he wants for himself, whether it's getting rid of the Caravan network, realizing he is still protective of Egypt and wants to defend it from foreign invaders, that he can't act alone because he's too weak and thus needs allies like Horus, and that Horus has qualities that set him apart from other characters who just lust after Seth. So this last send-off might be yet another thing.
But for now Seth is off to the palace in Heliopolis. Hopefully he'll be able to see Nephthys and Anubis and maybe even chat with Isis.
