Tower Of Power- So Very Hard To Go: This vato classic take me back to SF summer’s in the late 70s with my pops, when low riders still would cruise down mission from 24th to 16th st. Shit was like a moving car show. My pops lived right there on Bartlett and we would walk down and check the ese’s in there rides, grab a burrito at La Taqueria and take in the show. Coming from NYC, shit was mind blowing, being that NYC isn’t a car culture city. This tune was one of the jams on the soundtrack to cats cruising, along with joints like Bloodstone Natural High, I’m your Puppet by the Purify Brothers and anything by Brenton Wood amongst others. I still remember those songs and the stylish cars and fits the cholos were rocking. I grew up on the LES with a lot of Boricuas, seeing Chicano culture was a real eye opener, shit was definitely not AJ Lesters and Pro Keds listening to disco. Blessed to have seen both coasts as a shorty thanks dad for opening my eyes all those years ago! Shits long gone just like my LES growing up. Gentrification is seemingly inevitable. Hate that shit, but its the way of America now there seems to be no stopping it. #SFMission #FGentirifcation #VatoLocos #Oldies #Chicanos #Borciuas #PanLatinoCulture Question: Whats your favorite LowRider Jam?
