Fanon tropes are so fascinating. I only realized that I was reading a pretty old fic when Jason Todd admitted that he couldn't cook.
love reading fics tagged with "bruce wayne tries to be a good parent" where he inevitably ends up being a dog shit parent like:
bruce: *tries to be a good parent*
bruce: *accidentally invents a new kind of child abuse*
I do enjoy whump fics, though they sometimes make me giggle a bit with how melodramatic some tend to be. It really reminds me of Gothic novels
It's fun to exaggarate the angst of a conflict for drama and catharsis in fanfiction even if it's not canon compliant.
I do enjoy ot3's and polyships where they are all dating, but there are way more than one way to write poly relationship. Sometimes I do prefer two characters dating the same person without dating eachother.
Like if character A and B are two popular characters to be shipped with character C, but otherwise have nothing in common, I would find it more interesting to see them navigate that relationship with their separate histories with character C rather than just having them all be in a relationship by default.
It could turn into romance if you find that the characters actually do develop that dynamic as they get to know eachother. Skilled writers who understand the characters have convinced me that two characters of a complete crackship would absolutely be soulmates if they met.
maybe they become friends or something queerplatonic-adjacent, or maybe they just don't have the kind of chemistry or desire to become close beyond what facilitates their relationship with C.
Idk maybe they straight up dislike eachother and have to have a relationship drama arc where they have to figure out if the relationship can even function or if they can work around it and come to and understanding that doesn't leave anyone hurt or jealous.
