Hi Jay! Hiya sleepy! I have a question for you: have you ever had the idea to make a "What if" wip where a character had to make a choice or something happened, that could have changed how the story went/ something could have been prevented from a different wip?
Idk how you also knew I was sleepy was just about to go to bed but I got this and had to answer!!! (Was gonna answer all my asks on this blog like my personal but had so much to do today and was so exhausted that I didn't get a chance but will try tomorrow)
ANYWAYS
So the short answer is I HAVE!!! the long answer is much longer 👀🤣 (put in a read more in case anyone doesn't wanna scroll through all that haha)
okay so here's the thing when I first started writing I was around 16 years old or so, so it's been awhile. and what got me writing was this network--y'all remember networks right? well it was this tumblr network that was open to people looking to make an agents of shield self insert so that they could participate in a large shield mission roleplay! (i was really deep into the marvel fandom at the time and to this day marvel continues to be the fandom that I was active in the longest)
this was and still continues to be the coolest rp I ever participated in and the three people writing and running had the biggest brains ever and I thank them for giving me that opportunity. cause not only was it fun as hell but it's the very things that led me to start writing in the first place. to speed things up I turned my self insert into an actual character her name being Avery Plafaire. I rewrote her a couple times and in the end it just wasn't feasible to continue trying to write her story Code Blue.
as much as I loved her, the characters in her story, and the story itself I couldn't figure out a story to tell with them that was true to myself now and felt like it actually had a purpose or a reason for me to tell it. still I keep them close to me and maybe one day I'll try to make it all into something who knows. anyways regardless of what it ended up being or not I am immensely proud of the characters I came up with and the plot lines that intertwined them.
one of my favorites was the relationship between Avery and her clone but not clone Amber who had been originally a virus inserted into Avery's brain (long story that if anyone's interested you can ask about but way too long to get into it now) and copied her past to be able to replicate Avery and take over her body. well the more time Amber (the virus) took over her body the more she got to experience the outside world and become her own person.
over time Avery eventually realized that she was being possessed and that there was another being inside of her and it was decided that Amber now her own person would get her own body. so they made a decision, now being able to talk to each other in their shared mind, that Amber would have a body created for her and her brain (the virus chip) implanted into it so she could act as her own separate from Avery.
Amber went on to become an anti hero desperate to kill Avery thinking that if she destroyed the other girl she would destroy the weakness in herself that they both shared from their mutual past. But she was also very protective of Avery at the same time protecting her against anyone who would try to harm her claiming sole rights to remove Avery from the earth.
obviously while she started as a copy of Avery Amber became her own very distinct person and yet the two still share a strong connection that remains unbroken even though they no longer share one mind. and I went on a long winding story to basically tell you that I did get a big idea for a what if! and that idea was what it Avery and Amber decided to continue sharing one body and to work together instead of separating.
I actually wrote a snippet for it year and years ago and honestly the writing is kinda bad at least comparatively to how I write now but even though the story Code Blue remains on hiatus for the foreseeable future as well as it's characters... Avery and Ambers relationship as well as this what if scenario in particular continue to live rent free in my head and one day I would love to write more for them just cause of how obsessed I am with their dynamic
anyways this is hella long but as soon as I saw the ask I just knew I had to share this cause it's like my only solid what if? scenario that I'm actually so so so attached to and just never really got the chance to fully write sadly at least not before the time when the story was already kinda crumbling apart. but def open to talking more about them and about code blue in general if anyone's interested!
