Happy Ficaversary, Reunited (T)!

This was the second work of fiction I've ever written. Amazingly, I've written 20 more fan fics (and have several in the works) since I posted this a year ago today! Damn! I didn't think I had an addictive personality, but I'm beginning to wonder. This is my depiction of Aziraphale and Crowley finally getting to talk after averting the Second Coming together. Yep, the finale blew that idea out of the water. But perhaps some will find it comforting and, hopefully, amusing. I guess that makes it a fix-it fic.

Ficaversary

Today is my third Ficaversary since I got back into writing. I finally got around to watching Julie and the Phantoms in the spring of 2022 and loved it so much, I went looking for more content. Reels and videos and behind the scenes stuff and fanfiction… Such amazing fanfiction! I read nothing but that for months before I got the urge to write something myself. Something I hadn’t done in over 20 years.

Writing and posting my own stories made me want to engage more with the writers I loved to read. So I made a tumblr account and three years later I’m still here. I’m still writing, and I have the most amazing community of friends I couldn’t imagine not being in my life now.

Since I posted that first story, I’ve posted 58 more, all Julie and the Phantoms, except one lone Teen Wolf fic my oldest asked me to write.

I’ve written six series, with four of them definitely not finished, and a new one on the way next month.

682,832 words as of today with the end of my May drabble posts.

I had no idea three years ago my life would change so drastically, in all the best ways. All because of this little show that only got one season and this amazing community of people that love it.

I love writing and sharing my writing with everyone that wants to read it, and I LOVE reading the amazing stories my friends, and people I haven’t spoken to outside the comments of their stories, share.

I don’t know what the future holds for my writing. I hope I don’t take another twenty-year hiatus, but you never know. More than anything though I hope I hold on to the friends I’ve made this time and continue to be a cheerleader for all of your writing like you all have been for mine from the beginning.

A fic-aversary.

Four years ago today, I posted my first work of fan fiction ever. I was still relatively new to reading fanfic at that point. I was excited and nervous to contribute to the community that had floored me with it's quality of writing. Hitting that post button was scary. The response made me cry. My story was met with the sweetest, kindest, most supportive comments. I'm forever grateful!

Today is my Ficaversary! I'm celebrating 4 years of writing fanfic. See my works on AO3 here.

This odd little hobby has brought me immense joy and creative satisfaction, as well as connected me to some truly delightful folks in the Good Omens fanfiction world.

My passion for writing stories continues to grow, much like a dragon avidly hoarding words instead of gold, driving me to create more narratives that enrich my trove. I find myself on a perpetual journey of striving to hone my skills, which is a fascinating adventure in itself.

A year ago today, I posted Fractured, my very first TLOU story (and first fanfic after the great purge of 2015 😆). It’s crazy to think about everything that’s happened this last year. I’m so deeply grateful for the amazing community of friends I’ve found because of it. Looking forward to many more years together!

So it’s my fic-aversary. One year ago today, I published my first fic, Persistence of Memory on ao3. At the time, I was in the middle of writing my dissertation and hadn’t written fic or even been involved in fandom in nearly 15 years. I had one or two more ideas of things to write, but I didn’t know if this was a thing I needed to get out of my system and move on or not. One year, 50(!) fics, and nearly 250,000 words later, I guess it wasn’t! I’ve made some incredible friends who have helped me through a very hard year, written some things I’ve very proud of (and some things I never thought I’d write!), and read some incredible stories by so many amazing writers.

So thank you all, and here’s hoping that in the next year, I finish some of these WIPs!
