Fun idea:

Light pollution doesn't exist and all of modern human society exists in time bubbles that transport us to the far future where dark matter has caused the universe to expand to such a degree that light from stars can't reach our planet anynore.

Anyone is welcome to use this for a fictional setting/IRL conspiracy theory.
