#and don't get me started on Yör and Karvaldr bc that has INTERESTING implications about Kar's thought processes #... but I may mention a little bit....#Kar “pretends” to Vigdis that he doesn't need her now because he has a creature who will unconditionally love him #while thinking that it isn't really the case #but in the novel he very much lets Yör take the brunt of his affection- and despite Yör's “uncondition love” for him #Karvaldr is always anxious about upsetting Yör #going out of his way to speak in a stairway while breaking character. all bc Yör was upset and didn't want to leave #UGH and I won't say more for fear of accidentally leaking spoilers but Kar is so obviously deprived of *the ability to offer affection*#not just affection itself- not that he isn't deprived of that too- but he needs an existance that he can openly love and cherish in the #midst of a world where he has convinced himself that he cannot do that. do people recognize it anyway? yeah but the point is that #he refuses to directly display affection and his true thoughts and feelings without filtering them through his “Kar” act #and Yör is a special refuge #AND YET KAR DOESN'T ADMIT TO HAVING THIS ANXIETY AND HE EVEN-*I am dragged away by the spoiler police*#not a reblog #unforgotten asks #fictionalcreator #this novel is not my novel #tninmn
