#fiddle thoughts

A random thought occurred to me like the other day when I was talking to a friend of mine

I was showing them one of my ocs and they commented on how I tend to draw my female ocs bigger and it really got me thinking about it

Cuz i really do and it made me think even more, when was the last time you saw a fat character, more specifically a fat female character in a mainstream media???

And more specifically one that isn't:

1. A villain, often times made to be ugly and unattractive and is usually treated as a laughing stock

2. A side or main character but their "chubbiness" is a punchline and is just often made fun of (sometimes by the main cast themselves..)

Or 3. Their entire personality is just eating and food..

4. Is actually just curvy but is still labeled fat

5. Sexualized all to hell

Literally the only media that I can think of that has chubbier woman in it is tombs serial slashing and its not even mainstream 😭

I think i subconsciously started to draw more chubby female characters because if there isnt any representation elsewhere then you've just gotta make it yourself

(Also im not tryna be "woke" 😭😭 i get that some people just can't / struggle to draw certain body types but this is just a random thought i had)

Guitar players, I love you, but y'all gotta stop coming to me asking how hard it is to learn fiddle like I’m gonna be like “yeah no not that bad”. Its hard! You know this already!

A guitar wants to be played. It’s a sturdy, friendly beast that guides you where you wanna go. You can go from nothing to ok at guitar very quickly because a guitar loves you.

A fiddle does not love you. The fiddle would let both of you die before it helped you find a note. The fiddle is jealous and hates that you dare to touch other things. It knows the hubris you have to have to want to play it and it resents you for it. It will scream and growl at you for trying to play it with inexperienced hands, and it will take many months of basics to even begin to be ok at playing fiddle.

I’m not saying it’s impossible, I really wish they’d learn because I love talking fiddle with people and there aren't very many of us! But damn you have to want it a frankly stupid amount, especially if you're coming at it as an adult.
