@hopegave @theirlegends and @fidesobstinata didn’t ask for this but we need it.
The Queen felt them before she saw them, her heart clenching in relief when the guards told her the Millennium Falcon was outside the planet’s borders, the middle Skywalker practically flying down the halls of the palace until she reached the control room. Once she saw the ship and heard the voices on board she knew who was coming. Her siblings and her father. Among the rest of the survivors. Aunt Leia, this Rey she’d heard so much about, Chewy... Poe. She granted them access and spun on her heel, the handmaidens following close behind as she moved to the hangar where she knew they would land. She didn’t care if it wasn’t acceptable for the queen to meet newcomers at the hangar. This was her family.
The queen stood before the ramp in her grandmother’s lake dress, having been called from the house unexpectedly with no time to change as brown curls were pushed back behind her shoulders. First she saw Davin, then her older sister... a brief glimpse showing her Luke hanging back but she moved to wrap her youngest sibling in a tight hug, cradling the back of his head as she squeezed him. “I was so worried...” she whispered, pressed a soft kiss to his forehead before pulling Davin back in for a tight hug, stroking his hair. Once an older sibling, always an older sibling.
