I’m finally tucking into the wonderful The Temple Of Fortuna by Elodie Harper, the last book in the Wolf Den Trilogy that I’ve been saving for holiday reading, and there’s description of the statue of Fortuna, brandishing a cornucopia like it’s a weapon, made me think of these Fortuna and Copia illustrations I did for Legonium’s awesome Bellum Sacrum card game a few years ago ❤️

Okay. So about the idea that Mac can harbor the spirits of the embodiment of light and the other of dark, I’ve been thinking of how the hell that’s gonna look when the kid actually manages to get some sleep between screamed at by them. Usually they’re in the form of lucid dreams while he’s out.

The dreams with Galeem are usually full of light and it’s almost always daytime out, there’s hardly ever any night while Mac is there and it’s always full of colorful flowers or in a palace of light. Galeem does not like Mac being there, but in a way doesn’t really care if he’s there, but they make sure Mac knows very well that he’s not welcome. It’s nice to have someone to talk to anyway and they’re probably several thousands of years old. There’s not many animals and when there are, they’re always diurnal and for the most part friendly. Trees are usually green or autumn colors during the dream as well. If Galeem gets angry in any way though, things start to get really hot and burning, and can actually cause physical harm.

Dharkon is more or less the opposite. Surprisingly, Mac prefers dreams with Dharkon because it’s quiet and calm compared to the waking world. It’s always a nice cool night with them and he prefers it compared to Galeem’s, which is always bright and warm. All the animals are nocturnal, and some have markings that are bio luminescent, along side the trees, which may look like the night sky unless you look closer. Almost all the animals are friendly save for ones that do not take kindly to outside things (Other than Mac since he smells like their owner) Dharkon isn’t very friendly to Mac, but at least tries to keep Mac from wandering too far away, mostly for fear of him getting lost and not knowing how to wake from it. It’s difficult, but making Dharkon mad results in the darkness becoming harder to see through and making the night colder, which makes it far to cold to stay asleep in. This can also result in physical harm, but you would wake up before it happens.

Then there are the dreams in between twilight, or dawn? It’s hard to tell, it’s always where Galeem and Dharkon clash the most. Despite it looking like a beautiful sunset, the clashing ultimately can cause a lot of things to be wrecked or destroyed. It’s wise to keep very clear of the source, which Mac does from VERY VERY far away. He does sometimes try to get them to stop, though it results in him getting thrown out of the way or hurt. Sandman managed to help at one point, but it didn’t stop those two from trying to destroy the other. Mac usually takes this as a sign that he won’t be able to sleep properly for the next however many days.

Now for my next trick, I’ll have the boxers seeing Mac and learn about the right and left fist of god in him and have them reacting to that.
