In the midst of all the tragedy this world leaves us to face...witnessing this moment was truly magical and nothing like I've ever seen. In these few moments where thousands of us raised our lanterns, signing them with our goals, dreams, and even letters to those who've passed... time froze and I could feel once again what it meant to have hope. This year (my first year) at the RiSE festival, was dedicated to the one person I miss most. My Uncle Jon. Call me crazy but in one way or another, I could feel his presence surround me as I reminisced on all the memories he left me to keep. Time will never heal the loss of a loved one... but rare nights like these, with people who come from all walks of life and share the same wishful thinking makes the pain a little more bearable.
