❝ I couldn’t do that to you - I’m..
I’m supposed to make your life easier;
not harder —- ❞
There’s a short pause, all of her anger and
hurt boiling inside her, small hands rubbing
over her face and up through her hair in an
attempt to shake it off. But nothing, she
finds - works better than what she acts on
next.
Scooting herself over on the couch; papers and
files left forgotten as her small body moves to
his side, a quick movement placing her in his
lap, resting herself against his chest and her
face hidden against his neck, this is her very
own remedy for everything that goes wrong.
❝ This — this is what I need to do.
This is how I need to take it out
on someone, this is what makes
it all go away. ❞
The superior officers failed to realized that giving
her the files to sort that contained all the info
about the invasion of New York - would push
that one button that caused her hands to shake
and her body to tremble, even if it was unnoticeable.
❝ They gave.. I have to go through the
’invasion of New York’ files, it’s.. ❞
The memories are painful, the destruction, the
disregard for human life. And all of it flickered
down to that one singular moment when she
thought she was dead; if she hadn’t been so
close, if she hadn’t been fighting and had hid
then maybe that car wouldn’t have blown up
behind her and maybe the Chitauri wouldn’t
have had fun prodding at her while she was
nearly immobilized.
❝ I almost died.. That day.. A lot of
people did die.. ❞
She was sure she wasn’t the only person
to feel this way, this crippled because
of memories that wouldn’t leave her alone.
His arms were wrapped around her frame the
moment she fell so gently on his lap. Keeping
her close, hands moving in circled over her
back in a soothing way. Comforting.
The memories of that battle flashing through his
mind. It had been scaring, had terrified him the
posibility of not being able to stop it. The Chitauri
and Loki, all the tricks and destructions, all the losts
She was right, a lot of people die that day. Could only
imagine what it had been like for her. She almost
died, and his heart clenched with just the thought
of it.
" But you didn't, and you're here with me ---I'll
never let anything like that happen to you again."
He was going to protect her, not matter what.
He does mean when he says to her landing in
-falling- in front of her had been the best that could
had happened.
" I'll protect you all that I can."
It was a whisper, words just murmured to her ear,
his lips brushing against her hair, he pressed a bit
more firmly. A sweet, small kiss to her head and his
arms tightening his hold around her.
Everytime the subject was to be even mentioned, he
couldn't help but notice the sudden trembleness on
her body. The agnst and pain ( it all was as if she was
living it all over again ). He got that feeling.
" Do you want me to help? I can go through the files
if you need me to ---you just gotta ask."
He wasn't sure if she'd took this offer, but hoped for
a positive answer. He'd do anything to keep her away
from anything that could possibly disturb her.
