"I am here to take care of you. What do you need? Anything."

This wasn’t how he wanted anyone to see him. Especially not someone who wasn’t accustomed to the nastier side of his illness and everything it entailed. The amiable captain tried to smile. To tell the lieutenant that he was alright and didn’t need her assistance. That he could manage perfectly fine without her but the truth was he couldn’t. 

Not with the buildup that was happening right then in his chest. The urge to cough was so strong. He could feel the burning in his lungs igniting him from his insides. Begging to be heeded. Commanding to be released. Bent over his futon a sudden jolt had him desperately clutching at his chest dear life. As he  as much as he tried not to give in with all of his will power, there was just no overpowering this. Not when it was this bad. 

And in the back of his mind one thought resounded as a strained groan echoed within his tightly sealed lips. Why did Retsu have to send her here today? With his handkerchief positioned over his mouth in the ready, he coughed. It led to a series of sharp and painful coughs that had his entire upper body shaking, and when he was done after what seemed like a good minute or so he heaved an weak exhale, unwilling to remove the handkerchief just yet because he knew that warm red fluid that was hacked up from his lungs would be soiling it. 

“Water… please.” He weakly managed, pointing to the kettle that was on the counter opposite him, aptly positioned too he thought. Giving himself time to clean himself up while she had her back to him.

"... hello," Cloud begins. "Are you in charge here?"

“Ah, hello there!” The captain of the 13th division greeted the stranger with his ever friendly demeanor. “You might say that yes although my wonderful subordinates do a lot more than I do. If I were to ask, who might you be? You don’t seem from around here.”

Just dropping in to say (again) that your meta about Dick is fantastic. I intended to exclusively follow art blogs with this blog, but I love seeing your posts so much that I couldn't not follow you here too. So much quality here. DC needs to start taking notes.

Aww, thank you!! I’m honored to make it onto your art dash. Your art is so cute too; it’s the Big Hero 6 stuff that usually kills me softly, but I adore seeing your Teen Titans stuff whenever it pops up

i just want to thank you for you for all your detailed answers of certain topics involving Dick (+titans & batfam). I get into a lot of arguments at the comic store about these things, and i know that's there's proof to my arguments, i'm just not all that great with referencing things, and your blog is amazing for helping my reference things. so yes, THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY much.

I just want to say how much I appreciate this blog. You seem to be one of the few people who actually understands that Dick Grayson has a dark side, a serious side and isn't made out of rainbows. I love his positive, happy characteristics but often those are the only traits fandom focuses on.

Yesss. The happy-go-lucky fanon DG is what inspired this blog into existence. If it wasn’t for all of Dick’s darker and more well-rounded aspects, I would have never bothered with him as a character.

I wish more blogs would focus on it, though;; When I joined tumblr, the happy happy :D :D happy :D Dick Grayson was everywhere, and it made me doubt my own understanding of the character despite reading him a good five years prior. Then I picked up comics again and… nope??? So now I feel this residual need to promote Dick’s fully fleshed out qualities, because I love the amount of hype that exists for this character, but I hate that the hype is directed at this unrealistic shadow. With that said, his positive traits are obviously what makes him so likable. It’s just that a lot of people don’t realize what an utter ass hole Dick can be at the same time.
