@filifion
as she turned round the corner, she took a step forward yet did not put the foot back on the ground immediately after: in fact, it stopped mid-air the moment she noticed the black cat hidden behind the corner till that moment. It was such a sudden apparition that she almost lost her balance and fell, but thankfully managed to balance herself just in time. Instead of getting mad at the animal for getting in her way ( why should she? The poor feline had done nothing wrong ), Chris lowered on her legs and stretched her hand out, hoping the cat would sense her friendliness. He indeed did, and soon rubbed his muzzle on her palm, sniffing and licking it. It tickled her, and Chris giggled to herself as her free hand gently ran on the cat’s back. “Did you get lost, little one?” she asked him, although already knowing she would not get any answer. For all she knew there might had been a family who could speak to animals, back in the past, but she had not been born early enough to witness their existence.
The cat blatantly ignored her words and licked her palm again before starting walking in circle around her, as if she was a statue to admire. Chris let him do, smiling to herself and wondering if there was a way to find out what home he had escaped from - if there was any at all. He did not have any name tag, unfortunately, otherwise she would have knocked on the nearest door to ask if someone knew whose that cat was.
She would not have time for that.
