Ask-Pink-Pony Continues... Elsewhere
With the release of page 93 come the end of Chapter 3 of the comic, and the end of an era. Interest in My Little Pony has waned, and even fewer still are interested in this story. I had always hoped one day I could become one of those recognisable comics that have grown a cult following, like @askbananapie, @askalbinopie, @askhotbloodedpinkie, and other fantastic artists I have no right to compare myself to. I blame myself for the glacially slow output of pages. I never capitalised when the time was ripe, and now I'm the only one left caring.
So it is with a sad heart I say goodbye to Tumblr, the birthplace of Ask-Pink-Pony. I designed the early pages specifically with this site's format in mind, both in layout and the idea that people would message me questions that could be replied to, building up a rapport with this depressed Pinkie (a thinly veiled surrogate for myself). I got a few messages, but it never really went anywhere, so I decided to pivot to the comic being narrative-based instead. This was a mistake. APP stopped being a way to express my feelings, interact with others, and have fun, and turned into this decade-long struggle to realise impossible goals I set for myself. I struggle to draw, and nobody wants to wait years for a story to even begin. I wish I had accepted my weaknesses sooner.
My pages consistently get around 10 notes. There have been some outliers here and there, but the fact that I don't get any comments speaks a lot to how much people actually care about this alleged mystery story I'm writing. Now this isn't to say that I get more interest on other platforms--on the contrary, Derpibooru actively downvotes my pages, much to my confusion. While I disagree with a lot of DeviantArt's practices, and have done for many years, at this point I've invested too much time into archiving my work there to not stick with it.
And so, I have uploaded my final page (unless I decided to dump batches here in the future, at even more distant intervals). The blog will of course remain, as a monument to what could have been (much like my failed attempt at an interactive D&D story, ADRAX). If anyone out there actually cares about APP and doesn't already, please keep an eye on my DA or follow the comic's tag on Derpibooru. Chapter 4 will begin... but not here.
Goodbye, fare well, take care, and try to leave your shack once in a while. Who knows what you'll find outside?
