Today I am feeling relieved and so grateful for the path that I'm on, the people I've met, and for bright futures. Yesterday I saw two great shows by WSU grads: @greynek15 's MFA thesis exhibition and @lauranaveceramics 's solo exhibition at @reubensaundersgallery . It was inspiring to see all their hard work on display and to feel the positive energy radiating from family, friends, and art appreciators during #finalfridayict . They both did a great job and I am so happy for them. Congrats!! . . . Last night I also received some wonderful news. Things finally fell into place and I've accepted a partial graduate teaching assistantship at Nebraska-Lincoln for this fall. It's been one of the most difficult decisions I have made in my life, and I can laugh now that it is done and I look back at all the unexpected twists and turns. I received overwhelming offers and support from so many of the schools I applied to and I am so grateful that my potential as an artist was of interest to so many of my ceramics heros teaching across the country. I had no idea that just choosing a school would be such a journey of self-reflection and that I would end up turning down financial stability for good vibes. I think that in the end it not only came down to where I could see myself growing as an artist, but also as a person and a teacher in a positive environment. I'm so glad I embraced uncertainty for so long and that I was able to get an offer. Thanks to everyone who helped me get this far. My family, my boyfriend Miles, my professors @theblackadler , @brendalichman , @garylincolnstudios , my friends @lauranaveceramics and @lizellaslip who helped me edit all my application materials, @rangel.ceramics who went on a huge road trip with me to visit schools, and to all the faculty and students in the programs who answered my questions and showed me their programs. Again I am reminded what an amazing community ceramics is. I am stoked to be a part of it and I hope to put more good vibes out there into this community that supports us and to pay forward all the support, kindness, and generosity that has been shown to me on this crazy journey.
