I'm actually so happy for Akutagawa, like, as someone who's been in the dark in his entire life and his "supposedly" one and only reason of living is Dazai's approval, is finally seeing the light and understands what Kyouka saw?
Like in the latest ch, we saw that much of light in his eyes in one single blow, all because of Atsushi, because Atsushi, in a way, is the light in Akutagawa's eyes or probably his entire life, and of course not only for Akutagawa, but literally most of the characters in the series.
Even before this ch, we can see that Akutagawa's genuinely wants to see what's so different. What's so special about Atsushi? As if like testing the waters in this new area that he isn't used to?
Akutagawa had no reason agreeing to the deal of not killing for 6 months, since one, it's not even part of Dazai's order, and two, it's not even part of being a Port Mafia member. So this, to him, was a huge step for him to take towards this brighter territory.
So, seeing Atsushi getting "killed" in front of him is like taking that whole "light" away from him, taking that "light" back, so seeing him snap like that really shows that how much he doesn't want that "light" taken away from him when he just got it.
