hazel eyes scanned the room and she couldn’t help but ask herself what she had just gotten herself into. everything about the vale was completely new to the dornish princess, a stark difference from the marble and tile of sunspear. she wished more than anything to feel any type of sun on her skin to provide even a whisper of comfort. but she knew that all wishful thinking and all she would only be met with was a cold draft that the vale welcomed her with. eleyana let out a shaky sigh to herself and allowed herself a moment of uncertainty before appearing before kings and noblemen alike. she would rather be dragged along the shoreline by her heels than openly display her nerves to those she was meant to appear the strongest to.
she remembered the look in her father’s eyes that day that he ordered her to travel to the vale to support their family. it was a windstorm of merciless strength and fear, a type of fear that one who was far less familiar with the man could never recognize. but eleyana knew her father’s eyes and the way that those callous dark orbs could turn glassy as his commands came spilling from his chest. there was an looming panic that he hid so well with merciless stoicism. the two were all too similar in that way. a soft knock at the door shook her from this memory and she inhaled a steady breath to calm herself. she no other choice but to breathe and step into this unknown word. “who is it?” her voice, calm yet confident echoed off of the walls.
