“ I am not a bad man even though I do bad things " - Survivor Michael

Michael had left them. Left them all, behind, bleeding out on hooks and dirt and hopelessness.
Upon their return to the campfire, no one wanted to help Michael with his injuries. Only Quentin approached him, medkit in hand. Quentin didn’t approve of the sacrifices either, but he wasn’t going to just let someone bleed out in the woods.
It was the only thing Michael had said. The needle pressed between Quentin’s fingers stills, shiny and red, loving the moonlight. They were far enough away, Michael was quiet enough, no one else could hear them.
He tugs at the suture, making sure it wasn’t too loose, returning to the work. “You just wanted to survive.” Quentin murmured. “Can’t fault you for that.” While spoken softly, there is an edge to it, showing he still cared enough to disapprove.
“I’m sure you’re not a bad guy, but most of the others won’t understand that if you keep doing this.” He added, gently wiping the finished stitches with antiseptic. “If you make enemies like this, nobody will help you when you need it the most. It’s important that you understand that. How’s the shoulder feeling?”
