In a world under the boot of its gods, Phineas Kidd is a heretic with a chip on her shoulder.

After a month or so of random delays, of hemming and hawing over the choice, the decisions were finally made, the resources gathered, the goodbyes said.

And Amma, Mizello, Tamas, and Saranya all headed out into the wastes to find a new home.

The wastes were…endless. Or so it felt. Amma had never been out here before, and the wind howled, constant dust moving over the ground, and a vast expanse of grey desolate rock, peppered only with small plants.

There was little water out here — even Tamas struggled to draw it out from deep within the earth. There were other bugs — but most of them were non-sapient, with no means or desire to talk.

It was really no wonder that not many bugs traveled this place. The journey was proving itself to be quite difficult, even with Amma’s extensive preparation.

After perhaps a couple of days, Saranya decided to reach out to a friend.
