This Heart-Growing Garden
Crunch after Crunch I tiptoe through death
Shivering, ever longing for life’s warm breath
This heart-growing garden once teemed with life
Now dying brown leaves whisper woe-filled strife
This tale begins with a girl and a man
Who loved and laughed and stood hand in hand
Where their lips first met, the sun glowed red
The fire was lit, the contagion was spread
And with the morn’ came buds brand new
Infant rose blossoms bloomed red with dew
Their hearts’ grew together, their love runneth over
Red Rover, Red Rover; The Lord came over, guarding the heart of each- lover
This heart-growing garden once teemed with life
While they danced and sang and became man and wife
No longer just a girl and a man
Together into the sunset they ran
Their love was so strong, hearts so entwined
They failed to see the warning signs
A voice, so smooth, sweet as summer’s warm day
Beckoned “It’s me, It’s okay, I’m just here to play”
Tricked and dumbfounded, they unlatched the gate
Slithering through the roses was the Devil’s playmate
Their hearts grew together, their love runneth over
Red Rover, Red Rover; The Devil came over, disguised as the son and- the father
This heart-growing garden once teemed with life
Due to the sharing of love between man and wife
In marched the Devil, armed with sword
Slaying the love of those who adored
Remember this tale with an ending most sad
Forever Love does not last, when it’s yours, be glad!
