I’m going to tell you all a story today. It happened in February and I wanted to tell it then, but I kept forgetting. But I finally remembered this week!
Earlier this year, Lego updated one of their sets from Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The set was number 75188, the Resistance bomber. The reason for the update was the pilot of the bomber. Originally, they just had a nameless bomber pilot, pictures here, on the left. In the movie, the pilot was Finch Dallow, who looked nothing like the Lego pilot. But the update changed that. They started releasing new versions of the set with Finch Dallow’s head and helmet (on the right).
As a huge Star Wars and Lego nerd, I had to have the new minifigure, but the Resistance bomber is an expensive set, and I really didn’t want to buy a new one for a single minifigure, who there was no easy way to be sure if it was in the set. So, I sent Lego an email, asking about the minifigure and seeing if there was any way I could buy the new pieces or anything. A couple days passed and I didn’t hear anything, until I got my spam report, telling me about any emails that got sent to my spam folder that day. I look through the mostly junk emails until I see one from Lego with the subject line “Your parts order has been shipped”. I didn’t realize right away what it was talking about, so I rushed to find the email, not remembering having ordered any pieces. Then I see another email from Lego, received after the parts order one. It was from someone at Lego, basically apologizing for the fact that I had an inaccurate version of the set, and then saying that she will send me the new parts.
It was all a good experience and a good example of how good Lego’s customer service is. I hope you all enjoyed my long story and thank you all for reading, and thank you Amanda from Lego!
